What a Wonderful World.

Not a patch on the Louis Armstrong version, but this BBC, David Attenborough version to go with his natural history filming is pretty cool.

I didn't think places like this existed.

Coming from London, where you double lock the doors, and close all windows when you go out, I gave the girl who welcomed me, a funny look, as if to say, "Yeah right", when she told me,"You don't need to lock your door here. But if it makes you feel better, you can put your passport and credit card in the safe". So, the door to my bungalow has remained wide open since I got here. Even when I have gone diving all day. The key is hanging on the wall outside. I have slept with the doors wide open e

London Weather.

Can't believe the weather we are having here in London at the moment. Especially for this time of year. Its only four weeks until the clocks go back! Forecast for next 5 days: 24, 26, 27, 26, 24 degrees. Not a cloud in the sky. Samui next week.

Angry Birds - Life imitating art.

Saw this in a news article. A theme park in China. LOL http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-20103439-1/angry-birds-theme-park-game-may-not-anger-rovio/?part=rss&subj=news&tag=2547-1_3-0-20

There's one born every minute...

Wooden iPad 2 sold for £110 to woman in McDonald's car park Ashley McDowell, 22, thought she had picked up the bargain of the century with an iPad 2 for $180 (£110) - unfortunately, she later found out she'd actually shelled out for a painted plank of wood. Ms McDowell was approached by two men in a McDonald's car park in Spartanburg, South Carolina, who claimed to have bought the cutting-edge Apple tablets at a knock-down price. A US woman was sold a fake wooden iPad in a McDonald's car p

8.134 billion baht!

I just went to the post office and bought a ticket for tonight's Euromillions lottery. Its a record £166,000,000. Taking an exchange rate of £1 = THB49, that is a potential winner of over 8 billion baht tonight. I wonder if Thakkie has bought a ticket?

How time flies.

I can't believe that this coming November, it will be the 20th anniversary of the death of Freddie Mercury. Where did the time go? A couple of Queen hits: http://youtu.be/651pTi21-FU

Back home.

I got back home last night after my regular trip to Thailand. I had a great time. Woke up this morning to find that for once, the weather is actually better here in London. :-) At the moment its a balmy 27 degrees, with not a cloud in the sky, and none of that high humidity that I have had to endure these last few weeks. Its supposed to be even hotter tomorrow . I wasn't looking forward to returning home, but this more than makes up for it. Only trouble is jetlag is now kicking in, so

Sunset Samui

It is my birthday today, but I am feeling a bit under the weather, due to sleeping with the aircon on all night at 21 degrees. Picked up a rotten cold, and a cough. Tonight am just going to dinner, then the Ark Bar for a few beers, and early-ish night. I was going to have a party this Saturday, but have put it back to next week as I want to make sure I am feeling better. There have been a couple of beautiful sunsets since I got here. Here are a couple of pics I took the other night:

My new security guard.

Firstly, I am sitting here watching the most amazing sunset as I type this. To the story. I have just had a new sofa delivered for my terrace. Was fitted just before I arrived on Thursday. Looks pretty cool. So first night here, got ready, and went out for dinner and a few beers. Got caught in a downpour on the way into Chaweng, so ended up soaked, and had to buy a tee shirt. When I got home about 2am, I thought I had better bring the cushions inside, so pulled back the curtains, slid the

Thailand in 14 hours

Hard day at work. Now sitting here at the airport, very tired, and bored to tears, waiting for my flight to BKK., then onwards to Samui. At least I will get there in time for the last two days of the Samui Yacht Regatta, which started last weekend, and the last two parties.

Mini Aston Martin

Hahaha. A one litre Aston Martin: Dubbed the 'new luxury commuter concept car', and based on the Toyota iQ, the newcomer will lack the performance that Aston Martin customers have come to expect over the firm's 94-year history. But what it lacks in bare-chested machismo it will make up for with low emissions from its one-litre engine and with its high degree of suitability for urban motoring. The new car will boast a five-star EuroNCAP safety rating and it is thought it will share the cur

The Royal Wedding

Well, the Royal Wedding is finally upon us. To be honest, it doesn't interest me much to watch a wedding, and anyway, I will be flying tomorrow morning. One thing that I will miss though, is watching the procession through the streets. No one does pomp and ceremony like us Brits, even if I do say so myself, and the different ceremonial military uniforms, especially the Queen's Life Guards, and Blues and Royals always look impressive. You should try and watch it if you get the opportunity.
