This airport has a lot of prob. as u guys have heard from the press from time to time... the latest new is about runway... hehehe they said the farang design it for support the snow... hehe SNOW never fall in thailand SILLY lol

Taxi Drivers told me it will only take 15 minutes from the new airport to sukhumvit....dont know how true it is...will definitely verified it when it opens.

New reports (again) that the West runway is cracked! If true this will delay the opening once again. Also more reports that there are not enough gates - people will be bused to and from planes. Ahpuiahsan, I travel out there frequently - it will take a lot more than 15 minutes - the hold up will be once you get off the elevated tollway past Bangna.

It's a freakin' airport. Why are you all having an orgasm over a freakin' airport as if this is such a point of national pride? Every reasonably developed or developing country's got one (or many). This one doesn't look any different than most others. It's like, so what?

The only things special about it are that it took 45 years to build (now there's a Guiness record book entry for you) and the incredible amount of money stolen from Thai taxpayers by the people and politicians who had a hand in building it.

If it's a monument to anything, it's to greed, corruption and thievery.

I guess that makes it the perfect monument for the PM.

Loburt, good post. My thoughts exactly - every country in the world (almost) has an airport - and it didn't take them 45 years to build it!

I've been there, walked through it. And over a period of 2 days I pretty much saw every nook and cranny of the place, inside and out.. Some of the pics here have definately been 'enhanced' without doubt because it's still a bit of a mess out there with a scramble to get it all done. But great pics all the same!!

And yes, it is 'just an airport' , and yes, most large cities have one but not every city has a recently built new one from the ground up. Sydney airport had an overhaul before the 2000 olympics and yeah, it looks better, but this new one at Suvarnabhumi (possibly the newest airport in the world) is quite an amazing piece of modern architecture and design. I'm sure we'll all have a chance to see it in its finished glory sooner or later, then you'll be able to form a better opinion.

i haven't been to the others countries so i have no idea with the airport... i just seen the photos right here and they are look nice... my purpose of posted this journal i wanna show the nice commercial of the airport....

yes, this airport was build by greedy and cheating....but there something new in our country.. u guys might not feel it ... but i'm thai... was born and raise here i feel good...ok?

and yes in ur countries have so good facilities.. such as skytrain and subway.. so many thing ahead from us...

but in our country has only 2 BTS lines (sky train)... and 1 MRT (subway train) so i feeling good that we have it, better than nothin' right?

By the way the first time I came to Thailand the terminal at Don Muang was still under construction, and the old terminal was a nightmare! Now Don Muang is to be closed. I can't tell you how old that makes me feel! Sh*t! hahaha

it`s a great looking airport. Thais should be very proud of their achievements. as for being built on graft and corruption this happens in the west as well. i like the photos..thanks Neung.
