Awww sweetie I understand !! I was always black sheep and never got support until I did something my parents thought acceptable. I was happy for them being proud then but felt manipulated. But you must be yourself and make yourself happy and proud. Its hard being independent sometimes but be true to yourself !!! and hope they come to respect that you are. It is a respectable trait and you have mine !!!

I have high pride.. yet sometimes I get low self-esteem from my mom - dad...coz they say I'm not good enough. I guess that's normal for some family.

part of it is that they want you to do what THEY want to do, they have to get used to you being an adult and that you will do what YOU decide to do, even if it is a mistake.

often getting them to accept this is difficult--with my dad, it took a big argument and not speaking to each other for six months. after that though things were better between us than they were before.

Don't give up and try to cheer up partner...There are a number of us here who think and fell that you are a great person as you are and would not want you to be any other way...

Think about things that makes you happy...think about positive things that you have achieved in your life....and you will feel better and strong.

Sorry for you Neung, you just have to get rid of the victim role...I know it sounds easy...as long as you feel you do what you can, you have to tell them straight away how YOU think the reality is and then you tell them where the line in the sand is and that you draw that line NOW. just do your best and enjoy the things you do. Even if you fail sometimes : to feel misserable does not help you or to improve your life. After your next breath a new life starts and the past is just the past.

When your parent think you do something wrong just let them. I am sure they still love you even if they don't agree in everything you do.
