a Well he did seem genuiely sorry about it, but what was weird was the audience was laughing, I guess that they are so used to his off the wall comedy that they've never seen this side of him I guess....there's a loooot of healing that needs to be worked on here.

I also belive he is genuiely sorry. It probably all started as a joke from his side towards some african americans in the audience, but the longer time the joke kept on being "NOT FUNNY" he started using stronger and stronger words, with the hope of a hearing some laughs.... but his efforts doing so, had the complete opposit outcome. STUPID!!! His career is definately over now. We should not accept these kind of jokes.

How do you think the reactions would be today if the joke was about asians or indian people...?

I reckon he just stuffed his career big time and if it is as bad as people are saying ( I haven't heard the tape not interested to do so) then good riddance, there is no room for racism anywhere. Shame though I liked him heaps in Seinfeld.

I guess the one thing he doesn't yet understand is that he needs both street cred and to learn the way he delivers things when doing it off the cuff.

Richard Pryor was an example he could say ANYTHING and no one took offence, well perhaps not everyone, but my point is TV sitcom humour is a long way from the toughest job in the world, stand up comedy, you're born into it not made into it.

I dont see the big deal!

He said some very stupid and inflamatory things in response to some consistent heckling within a section of the audience. He reacted very badly and inappropiately and dug himself a bigger whole as he tried to get laughs by the using the manic and aggresive persona as part of his act. He was out of touch with his audience.

He has since realized how out of line he was and said sorry. THAT SHOULD BE THE END OF THE MATTER

But oh no, instead we get lots of stupid coverage and coountless brigades of POLITICALLY CORRECT ENFORCERS crying from the rooftops. I even saw one gou saying, oh he needed to do, this, and another saying he needed to do that etc etc.

Excuse me for saying so but the man is human [not allowed under the politically correct doctrine] he made a very big mistake and HE HAS SAID HE WAS WRONG AND IS SORRY! - next story!

The context is also very revealing- he was playing in some small mickey mouse club with a very small audience as distinct from being playing to a wide audience which would of had a dynamic that would be different. It only came to light coz someone wanted to make a big deal of it and the news people are only too delighted to play it up as much as possible.

People often do and say stupid things in certain situations and so long as they admit it and make amends by saying they are sorry that should be the end of the matter. While if a guy develops a pattern that is something yet again and can be dealt with too. I dont think this guy has any history of being racist or anything of the sort so such comments are just dumb and mean.

As for other crazy "black" comedians?

Richard Prior was funny SOMETIMES

Eddie Murphy was funny SOMETIMES

Chris Rock is INVARIABLY FUNNY

All are highly offensive if you ask the right people but all comedians however good or bad are suposed to be trying to BE FUNNY and that can be a hit and miss affair.

It is disappointing to see people try crucify a guy even after he has made amends. He said sorry- thats it MOVE ON. As for his carreer well despite the opposing view I tend to think the adage that there is no such thing as bad publicity is more or less true as in a world which is totally preoccupied with celebrity and fame or infamouy it will only do his career good [ironic as that is].

Next time he doesn somehting similar then you can start calling the man a rasict or make other such spurious accusations. Have people not the right to speak in anger and regret it later because the words do not truly reflect what the person really thinks or believes?

"wOw celtictigers you're right, he just mistimed his comedic delivery (and it was only a small audience anyway)... said sorry, so no biggie.

Thanks mate."

Well as ever you put words in the mouth of someone [figuratively speaking]

So you say I amright to say he just mis-timed his conedy.

NOPE! Never did - but you dont seem to want to hear the awful truth, which is thata guy done something very bad - said he was sorry and instead of that being the end of it - the true racists [those who keep harping on about race while turing a blind eye to the double standard of blacks who use all sort of offensive language that is deemed somehow more acceptable] insist on blowing this out of all proprtion and throw it back forever.

The word ****** uised by anyone as a form ofabuse is wrong fullstop.

I couldnt give a crap if one is pink purple black white grey or ....

The hypocrisy of people is truly amazing HE SAID HE WAS SORRY! WHAT THE HELL IS HE SUPOOSED TO DO after the fact which as we seen was in a rage and a temper = not his normal self etc etc.

IT WOULD APPEAR THAT SOME PEOPLE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO MAKE A MISTAKE AND BE SORRY FOR IT- WHICH SAYS A HELLOF A LOT ABOUT THE CHARITABLE NATURE OF PEOLE AS TO JUDGE FROM THE REPLIES TO THE ORIGINAL POST ON THIS JOURNAL AND THE ONE BEFORE IT.

WE ALL DISAPPROVE OF THAT OUTBURST SO WHY MAKE MORE AND MORE OUT OF IT
