If all goes according to plan I'll be spending a few days in BKK in mid-Sept.  I have a business trip to India in the beginning of Sept so I thought I would pop over and spend a few days on holiday.  I fly out of India on the 14th and arrive in BKK early am on the 15th.  Then I'm leaving on the 19th and flying back to the UK.  Only snag here is on the Thai Airways website they quote a fare of about $330.  I tried to book it but it wouldn't let me pay on the website for an eTicket.  I called their UK office and they told me that I have to pay for the ticket within 72 hours at my point of departure (India).  If I purchase directly via the UK office the ticket is $1200.  :-)  I emailed TA's customer support in Thailand and they seem to at least to want to be helpful but we haven't gotten down to specifics yet.  I asked them if I could:a)  Just buy an eTicket nowb)  Have someone from my office in India go and pay for and pick up my ticketc)  Pay for the ticket now and pick it up when I arrive in IndiaThe alternative is to take an Air India flight for about $550 or roll the dice and wait until the day before I leave home and see if the fair is the same (and they have seats) a week before departure.   Either way, it seems like I'll miss a lot of you who are going down to Koh Samet.  If you're not going to be down there and want to grab a drink ping me and let's see if we can get a bunch of people together and arrange a night out.
