diet-coke, sushi bar and i am not a femenist
hi space,
i published this journal before, but guess you might wanna read this one too. soon i'll write about 'the last samuri', though i don't like hollywood films but this movie has sth to say more. stay tuned!
----------------------------------------------------------
almost three years ago, the coca-cola had launched an interesting advertising campaign. i call that a 'female strikes back'project. they launched a series of couple 30 sec. TV commercials. the story started with a group of office girls keep checking out and giggling about a cute chap who came for an interview. the second commercial revealed the story as the guy got that job, while he was walking in the hallway, one of the girl from that group pushed a table to block his way. that made him shy, and the girls got a big laugh. the next one was when a couple workers were in line at the coke vender machine. the same girl put post-in note on a diet-coke can, and of course the note went to that cute guy.
it's been a long time that women have visually been sex objects in many types of media. when we watch a movie, and we see that the camera pans or tilts follow an attractive woman, that is when the camera is used as it is 'men's eyes'.
at starbucks in my university, they have got counter seats where the counter faces to a hallway corner. this corner is like a transit area where students have to walk by to their classes, to buy snacks, to go to the bank machine, to go to labs, and so forth. so, if i sit at the counter, i'll be able to see many students........at first, i'd never felt comfortable to sit there, sitting there made me felt like i was a doll in a glass carbinet. until later, when i started to go crazy about boston cream donuts (at that period i had 6 boston cream per day for a whole year and gained almost 30 lbs.), i started to sit at that counter, had my coffee and donuts and hey!....it wasn't so bad...the feeling was reversal, i then felt like i was in a sushi bar...where all kind of sushi were put in small plates and they would move around in front of me, so i could grasp whatever sushi i liked. yeah...i kept peeking on those students, checked them out and rated them.
it's been too much, and it's unfair for men to be objects of attacking from femenists.
when a film (intentionally or unintentionally) sexually shows images of women, feminists claim for disrespectful.
when a film (intentionally or unintentionally) sexually shows images of men, feminists claim for being manipulated by the uses of musculinity.
i am not a feminist. i am also not taking any side in particular. i am an individual who believe that people nowadays are looking for a comfort zone of their own. they do what they love to do (don't tell me that britney spears doesn't like being a hot chick), they stay where they feel comfortable, and they stick with persons that make them happy to be around, no matter they'd be oppressed or not....and for anything else...they use their credit cards to buy and many of them do purchase online.
