Today while my team and I were sitting at the bakery shop close to our office. As usual we were talking about this and that then my kinda boss mentioned about one university girl whom working for other team on our floor, he called her "Rajabhat Girl" because of the way she dresses uniform while she's actually studying at Chula (I think she's doing her internship here.). Thing is my kinda boss didn't know that I graduated from Rajabhat Suan Dusit.. But he realized shortly when I started shouting his name afterward.. LOL I understand that he called her so because of the way she dresses and the way Rajabhat girls dress are kinda similar. She doesn't dress like Chula chic, you know what I mean, you can tell which university people come from by the way they wearing their uniform. ABAC girls dress different than Chula/Thammasart girl, Chula girl come with brown belt while ABAC girl doesn't wear any etc (not 100% but mostly). I'm pretty close to my kinda boss so I don't mind and I admitted we, rajabhat girl got bad reputation in wearing uniform. I just feel it funny *at first*. No one in my team know where I graduated from because the one who interviewed me was only my dear bossy and I don't remember if she ever seen my transcript either. I was recommended to her by my ex-boss so that's made thing not as difficult as it should be plus it's my luck too. To be honest, if I could I won't study at Rajabhat. If I ever going to do my master degree here I'd be absolutely think about Thammasart first. I was not really proud to have a degree from Rajabhat but I always proud to have degree in Finance and Banking field. But nowadays, I'm proud to be a rajabhat girl whom working for this company for almost 2 years because most staff are from Thammasart, Chula or ABAC (for bachelor degree like me). I joined this team by luck but I stay for this long because of myself. Proven by 20-25% raise I got, I believe it does mean something. Where you graduated from is matter to people who met you first time since they have no clue what kind of people you are but they know your school one way or another then in long term you have to prove yourself.   What do you think about Rajabhat student? Do you have any colleague from any Rajabhat? How are they like?

A piece of paper from a university doesn't really prove anything really. I know a lot of people who are so damn proud of the degree they got from overseas and I don't even see that they can do better than a lot who graduate from local university.

I see a lot of people from reputable university who doens't know how to work. And I also see a lot of people who doesn't even have a degree, yet doing well at a lot of jobs.

But from your journal, I really wanna tell that girl to at least shows some respect to her institute, if she doesn't have any respect for herself in dressing decent esp. in Chula uniform.

I offer another perspective to this discussion, I could careless on how she dress no matter which university she is from. It is her choice. Of course, if she breaks the dress code let the school deal with it. Dressing good or bad does not make you a good or a bad girl, in my opinion anyway. Her actions will only decide that. BTW,like many guys here, I find lady in university uniform quite attractive:)

My managing director and I are actually products of city university, but we are now working for one of the biggest investment banks. Degree is just a piece of paper.

Agreed with Dan BKK, there's really something about university uniform.. =P

as a number of people are saying a piece of paper doesn't mean you have what it takes.

I work with people who have to deal with international marketing, some have marketing degrees from LOS and abroad, others have degrees in other fields, BUT neither seem to have any idea of how to promote/market/sell.

But about 200 metres from my office is a small market where the older people only have a P4 education and the younger ones have P6-M3. These people know about the basics of marketing coz it's their livelihood.

So does it matter whether you graduated from a Rajabhat, Chulala . . ., or abroad whereas brain power and experience could mean so much more?
