I don't know what the meaning of "Nam chai" in English. May be "generousness" is close to this word. However, lately I got some bad experience... Case 1Monday, I went to see movie with my classmate she left me to Chonburi before the movie was over. I had no umbella at all... and it was hard rain outside. That time was 9 pm. I really needed to go home. I saw a taxi parked in front of the cineplex. So I waved my hand and that taxi were waiting for me.. I ran out through the rain to ask the taxi driver to go to Ratchada... He just smile and said he wouldn't go. **** him I ran to him through the rain and he wouldn't go ?? I said "You really JAI RAI (so mean) don't you see the rain is so hard and I ran from there to take your taxi, think about when you don't have any passenger, damn it..!!" then I just slammed the door extremely hard. Like haven heard me.. a new taxi just parked the car behind that... I ran to that taxi asked if he could take me to Ratchada... He said "Ok" When I came in he told me that taxi always play hard to get in this time... but if i go around Ratchada at midnight ... they always wait for the passengers on the street... I really can't stand it.Case 2Tuesday, I didn't drive to work I left my car at home. Prefer taking BTS and MRT... it alot faster.... While I was taking shuttle van from my work place to BTS Nana I checked my handbag and found out that I forgot my wallet on my desk. I called everyone who was in my dept. and still there before I left. No one answer the phone. So I made up my mind to asked for help from someone I know outside the dept. She kept my wallet in the safe place (thks her so much)However, my real problem hadn't sloved yet. Cry I had only 10 baht in my handbag. It was ok if I took BTS, I still had credit in card enough to take me to Asoke but MRT card the credits is  -6 it couldn't bring me home for sure. Then I tried to call my coworker (farang) who lives in Soi 11. He was back to his aprt already. I told him about my problem. I couldn't believe he just said "Oh, that's too bad" and "Oh, that's too bad"Well, he wasn't far from where I was at all... did he ever thing I needed money to go home... not 1000 baht I need only 22 bahts. Jai rai makkkkkkk...Like heaven could hear me again... I ran into my coworker, she is a new staff, can't make much money... she gave me 200 baht to go home.. SEE? In my case my friend lost money 60000 baht..  she had my 1000 baht... but I said I gave it to her... no worriesMy friend forgot her wallet at home.. and she had no money at all I lend her 1700 baht plus treated her lunch...I know we are living in material world... but we shouldn't be material persons na..

i know what ur talking about.... the only problem tho... is when i lend, i don't get my money back!!

Case 1 :

I lend 2,000 b to my co-worker. She called me on MY DAY OFF... I decided to drop in early morning to give her the money before i go meet up with my friends. I came into the work place but she wasn't there.. So i slipped the money into her drawer and phoned her to tell her that. There were other staff that were there already, but i didn't want to embarass the girl by asking other ppl to keep the money for her.

The next day i got to work, she claimed that i only put 1,000 b into the drawer for her. And she only paid me 1,000b back! So i told her, don't ever ask me for money again even if it's only 1 baht!!

I just gave away.. not hurt anyone feelings....

However, in my case 2 just 22 baht...damn it.. farang kee neow

Did you ask him directly? Or you just leave it like that and hope he will think so? I mean, sometime you have to ask... Some people doesnt know how to show their kindness..

It's NOT a farang thing. Some people really are just clueless when it comes to hints. 'Asking' would have been the solution for everything. And if you asked and he said NO, that's when u should start to crap about the Nam Jai!

A farang co-worker has to be asked specificly, if you needed 22 baht.........maybe he just thought, you was talking about your dismay, and just calling him to release your frustrations? If you ask for a penny, they will give you only a penny, don't expect a dime or nickle.....unless you asked......so I just think that to mention you was short 22 baht, and not say, hey, help me, I need this to get home!!! Then it was misunderstood, on his part..........

Taxi drivers are something else, in Thailand, but that's another story!!

There are also those people that will not hesitate to ask you all the time for maybe monies for cigarettes, or lunch, etc.........however, when you need to ask them for some, it's a different story, and they say, sorry and give you a bs story......!! Those people you don't need!

BCool... not all farangs have english as mother tongue and in general the nuances are many, I?m sure we could find the right translation for your concepts!

The things happened to you are very unpleasant, but also don't think that beautiful ladies are spared from all kind of ill treatments just thanks to their beauty, there are so many different ways to hurt people and ... impolite guys have a lot of imagination

try to think about all the good which is still around

I hope that "kee newo" farang gets run over by 5 taxis at rush hour, he's "jai dee nit noy" But, there are still kind people out there, just try remember not everyone is "Oh, that's too bad" type person.

Actually..not all farangs is same.. i will tell you. One of my farang friend (which you know him too). I have told him many times that my friendship to him is uncondition, i never expected free sexual pleasure from him really, honestly. Until now, 3 years later I think he understand my Nam Jai to him he never scare of me anymore and feel free more to offers his nam jai to me back.. jing.. true story.. :-)

jing not all farang are the same... It's not about nationality...it's not about sex.. it's not about generations..

I believe many of Kon Thai Jai rai... many farang Jai dee... i have seen alot

some girls are selfish... same as guys..

I believe ancient time had someone who call "selfish" as this time as well.

where not all the same bcool. if you had told me you needed such small help i would have helped with no problem. even though i do not lend money to friends, by this i mean when they ask i give it to them and never expect it back nor do i ask for it back. i would rather lose the money then the friendship. the friendship means more to me anyway.
