In our world, there are some people who are very bad, and some very good people and a whole bunch of people who are average. I suggest the same applies to the people here in TF. This is what is called ?natural distribution?.

This term ?farang? seems to be used to excess and in quite racist and ignorant ways by some people in here. Surprisingly, by well-educated people who should know better than to generalize and make broad sweeping statements about ?all farangs? or ?all anyone?.

Try changing the word ?farang? to ?Thai girl? in most of the questions above. How would a good Thai girl feel if someone asked her: ?All Thai girls are crazy about sex right?? or ?Why do all Thai girls lie??. I am sure she would be insulted.

Outside Thailand, i am not called 'farang'. In Singapore I was 'Angmo', in malaysia I was 'Matsali', in Hongkong, I was 'Gwalo', in Australia I was called a Pommy. All of these terms have their own history and meaning and all can be used and are used in racist ways. That is part of life as a Westerner in Asia, along with monsoons, being stared at and the occasional case of the shits.

ALL monkeys eat bananas. ALL dogs smell other dogs? bums now and again.

But, not ALL farang are the same. Any more than all Thai people are the same. It makes no sense to think they are.

To all the girls who have asked me these sorts of mindless questions above, I ask you to grow up and check your facts.

It is a fact that the ?farang? sex industry in Thailand makes up less that 10% of the entire sex industry here. Go figure the other 90% that is rarely talked about here.

It is also a fact that not all ?farangs? are hanging around in bars picking up bar girls.

If this is supposed to be an on-line community, perhaps we should think more before we say things, treat each other with good heart, respect and not assume everyone is guilty before they are proven innocent.

I try to treat everyone i meet her as individuals and with respect. All I ask is the same in return.

Thanks Lillydilly. There is nothing to 'get over'. I am simply pointing out something i observe. Just because these terms have been used 'for centuries' does not make them right. The reality is that a word means nothing. It is just shapes on the page. It is only when it has intention behind that it carries any meaning. Calling someone Angmo or Jek or Farang can be in good fun too. What is am talking about, to be precise, is the meaning behind these words when they are sometimes used. If what i have written causes some people to think just a bit more, then that is good.
