ratchada's great, lots of cheap places very close to MRT, and unlike upcountry where manee lives there is all kinds of stuff like restaurants, street food, coffee, etc.

my place has a fruit cart and and a meat on a stick cart out front until late at night.

and there are many buildings that are fairly tall so you can get a high enough floor that you won't have to hear the soi dogs bark all night (or at least it won't be loud enough to wake you up).
