Smart Casual
This is my another outfits problem. This evening I will join p'Nicky dinner at Thanying Restaurant. Dress code: Smart Casual I faced that problem before when I had dating at State Tower.... I wore office uniform there... cuz I didn't know I would go to the place like that. I felt like a fish out of water. Lost all my self confidence. So before going there, Today I did more research on my lunch break about Smart Casual... Sounds like it's not hard to do but for me it is. I think for some Thai as well.Actually, i'm not that serious about the outfit today... just wanna know what is actually mean and don't wanna be over dressing or lower dressing... lol.How to dress SMART but CASUAL.from www.tellmehowto.com said smart casual means something like a smart shirt with trousers or chinos. However if you wear a tie or suit jacket then you are over dressing.
By the same token, certainly you must wear full length trousers and avoid jeans.
As a rule, go with your judgement, and if you think that something is a little close to the line than don't risk it.
After all there is nothing more embarrassing than turning up to an event and looking out of place! If in doubt go on the smarter side.and from http://www.youlookfab.com has great advice for ladies.
Smart Casual for ladies
September 7th, 2006- Smart Jeans: get the darkest blue wash that you can find. Black and grey denim have made a comeback this season and are good substitutes – but blue is best. No holes, tears, faded areas or bleach marks. Trouser cut denim styles are another excellent option.
- Dressy top or collared shirt: select styled knitted tops in better end fabrications, woven girly tops or tailored collared shirts. Plain cru-neck T’s will not be smart enough.
- Knitwear or jacket: layer a fine-knit cardigan, pullover or fitted jacket over your first layer when it starts to get chilly.
- Trench coat or coat: top it off with a fitted trench or woolen winter coat.
- Heels: wearing smart shoes with some sort of heel is key. Fancy flats can be smart too, but are never as chic as heels.
- Bag: adding a dressy bag completes your smart casual look.
