grezzzy_greer 2 Posted November 18, 2008 Report Share Why bother to pretend....?? I cant wait to see it... I absolutely love the Star Trek series - and it's one of the few things my brother and I have in common - except he's worse than me and has every episode and all the movies on DVD! Grezzzy seems to love watching the New Doctor Who...between Star Trek and Doctor Who, these must be two of the longest running science fiction series ever made! Greer Link to comment
Stramash 11 Posted November 18, 2008 Report Share Greer - just some geeky notes; Dr Who started in 1963, Star Trek in 1966. Dr Who holds record for longest running sci-fi series, Stargate for longest running (consecutive) sci fi series (203 episodes without a break) Ah, the glory of sci-fi geekdom Link to comment
vbroker 0 Posted November 18, 2008 Report Share So y'all are interested in Star Trek? It just so happens I have become reacquainted the with original series. I never bought into "The Next Generation"...too cerebral and not enough smokin' hot alien chicks for the Captain/Commander to score with/take advantage of. All of the above and more can be found here: http://www.surfthechannel.com/ You can also find most every American TV program and movie ever made there as well. The original Star Trek is one of the best scripted and ahead of its time programs ever to air. It's as brilliant today as it was when I watched it during my university days two decades ago. Several technology icons were similarly inspired by the show and went on to create items we take for granted today. For example the cell phone was indirectly influenced by the communicator. Phasers influenced laser technology. Computer voice recognition technology is now a reality if it isn't widely deployed yet. Link to comment
