An article about Charles Veley, the most traveled man on earth, who has spent the past nine years conquering the world. He's logged almost three million miles and spent nearly $2 million in an effort, as he puts it, ‘‘to go everywhere in the world.’’

"In 2003, at age 37, he became the youngest person to visit all 317 countries and provinces recognized by the Travelers’ Century Club, an organization of globe-trotters who’ve visited at least 100 countries or territories. A year later he approached the Guinness World Records to certify his status as the world’s most traveled person, only to discover that the Guinness authorities had discontinued the category, because, he said, they could no longer agree on an objective standard."Continue reading...

I'd love to visit as many countries & places in the world in my lifetime as I can. But to do it in order to get in the Guinness book or on the newspaper kind of ruins it for me... I'd just do it for the sheer fun of shaking hand to someone new and different everytime + the excitment of being exposed to a new culture. The last country I visited (Cuba, 2 weeks ago) was a blast.

Are U still in Paris?

I still have dream to travel to places but have to put it aside for now.. I prioritize things differently now. In couple years i might tail along wherever you go ;p

viewing life in terms of checking off items on a list and keeping a scorecard is inherently and completely unappealing to me.

if i spend $2MM on travel, i'd probably have to check my passport to figure out everywhere i'd been and i doubt i'd have the faintest whiff of what the number might be.

p' kitty, in a few years, i may not be able to lead this kinda life/lifestyle anymore...have to erm...save? lol

zeusy...i think having a list is not a bad idea. at least you know where you're going/want to go/want to succeed. priorities. esp..if being spontaneous don't get you (in general) anywhere.

i like the idea of having a list of where one *wants* to go. a "hope list." then turning that into plans (altough admittedly if i'd have stuck to mine i wouldn't have ended up in Bangkok).

.... but if traveling becomes about "success" i'd rather stay home (unless it's a business trip).
