There are many Thai words seem to have the same meaning.Do thai ppl so stupid having so much word with no reason?
1. Some words are really in the same meaning but for different ppl class
· You can say eat in many way ;á´¡ (dag) if you talk to your very close friend but it not polite only male friends talk to each other like that,¡Ô¹ (kin-informal),ÃѺ»Ã÷ҹ (rubpratan-formal),à ÊÇÂ(saweoy-king and king family)
2. Some words are really in the same meaning but for different usage
· ¼ÙéËÂÔ§ (yoo-ying),ʵÃÕ(satree),¡ÑÅÂÒ(kanlaya) all of them mean woman ,1st one for informal use (day to day language),2nd one for formal usage (writing),3rd one for poem or can be someone name
3. Some word are really in the same meaning but depend on your gender
· Yes = ¤èÃ(ka’) for women ,¤ÃѺ (krub) for men
4. Some words are not in the same meaning but something relate
· Country = à Ã×ç (meung =ppl+house+leader+area,maybe small) »ÃÃà ·È (prated= ppl+house+leader+area+à áÃÒª;maybe put many meung together)
· But in the used context they are the same word
5. Some words we borrow from another languages( Cambodian,Pali,Sansakrit) if we see they look nice when we write them down or sound nice when we say them (coz educated ppl in the past must know other Asian languages and showed off by saying it in the meeting to let others know they were educated—like ppl now speak thailish show they had degree from USA or UK)
· Very easy to notice foreign words in thai,their spelling they will not use simply letter or the letter and sound will not go together
Such as……
à ÈÃɰÕ (sed thee) is not Thai words it came from Sanskrit , È É are in Sanskrit only ( in Sanskrit they pronounce Ê,È,É as “s” when they are in final sound but in thai we don’t have final sound and see it as “d”—will talk more about this later)
à ÈÃÉ°Õ Mean wealthy person
We have simply word forà ÈÃÉ °Õ (sed thee) in thai by mix two words together (talk more about mixed words later they are very interesting) we say “¤¹ÃÇ” (khon=humankind,ruey =rich, wealthy) ..... time to sleep with Russ ....err I mean I have to sleep in the day time today as I worked so late last night ....and now is Midnight his time ....why do english words have two meaning?? what about thai???I will talk about this tomorrow pal ......100% funny lesson Good night USA ...
