free thai lesson 23:Perfect tense
Perfect tense
Form
S + V + O (or complements) + “LAEW” (áÅéÇ)
S+ V + “LAEW” (áÅéÇ)
S = subject (noun)
feeling V = verb show your feeling
O = object (noun)
LAEW = done, finish (THAI)
1. Write down your present tense follow by LAEW (check my “present tense ” lesson)
2. Subject can be noun or noun phase
3. Complements can be Adj. or Adv. It will follow noun- I talked about that a month ago (diff. from your Adj and Adv. )
4. We don’t need article a , an ,the – if it only one thing we will know by putting nothing,if it more than one we will mention the number
5. Don’t have the preposition of time
If you use feeling verb such as like,love,hate,hungry,angry,shy. This sentence will not be “perfect tense or past tense” in English but it is in “perfect tense or past tense” thai. Let see thai perspective on “PAST”
Fay: I am home darling (in thai we say “I have been home already”)
©Ñ¹ ¡ÅѺÃÃ’ ºéÒ¹ áÅéÇ ·ÕèÃÑ¡
Chan klub ma baan laew teerak
(It show as past as she got home already-in Thai sentence Verb is more important than time and subject)
Russ: I am in the kitchen, Fay
Fay: oh, are you cooking?
Russ: yes, I am
Fay: I am hungry
©Ñ¹ ËÔÇ áÅéÇ
Chan heu laew
(hungry is feeling and she already feel it and still then we use laew-as perfect tense)
Russ: It is almost done
(Ãѹ) à ¡×ú à ÊÃç¨áÅéÇ
(mun) keab saed-laew
laew in this sentence is verb “done” – saed is also mean done,in thai we make what we say stronger by put two word in the same meaning together.So ,this sentence is not perfect tense
in this context mean that Russ really know Fay,she will get angry if she don’t get her dinner in a few minutes
*** I know it is not easy as thai language does not have tense …I try to use English structure to make it easy for you ***
I will give you some more example next time
