Hope everyone doing well. I'm a bit quiet lately since I'm having problem with internet connection at home. Now using my beloved Nokia connect to the net on GPRS mode. It's just like a dial-up connection that I already forgot how slow it can be. Can u imagine why I don't online a lot lately? lolAnyway, today I need a quick(or not?) rant!! :oHell is coming!! I have one cousin who I'm pretty close with. We live in the same house. He always ran to me when it comes to computer stuff... He enjoys using some hi-tech stuff(which I don't) and most of them need to/can be synchronise with computer from time to time so my pc have iTunes and **** that I don't need them for myself but him. I don't mind if I can answer/fix things he wants but the problem is I know almost nothing about Apple stuff. And he just bought a MacBook. I think he just got it either yesterday or the day before. (I aware that he will get one for awhile ago and I already said that I don't know anything about Apple computer.)Last night he ran to me and asked why there is no any icon he can click... O_o I said I have no idea coz it's totally different from the computer I'm using. However, I saw that on the screen it says something about registration, apparently some operation system has been installed so I just tried to go further as much as I can and I made it! Done registration! Bravo!! (He said he didn't dare to do anything.) So many icons on the screen for him now.. :)) Then I don't know what he wanted me to do but he was not going to leave me alone, so I just asked how to connect to internet, what browser to use? He said it must be the Safari.. (lol I seriously had no idea!! Luckily he knew it!) So I tried and then I managed to get WIFI connection for him so he ran away happily. :) Blessed! This morning before I off to work he asked me how to switch language to Thai... I don't think Mac computer support Thai language? Am I right? Or how to get Thai language installed if I was wrong? And then just 2 hours ago, he ran to me again and said there is something wrong, he cannot connect to the internet anymore, he said he was using it until today evening. I really don't know but he left his new toy with me and said if I got a day off tomorrow I can spend time with his MacBook and said if I need anything I can run to him coz he will stay up late watching footy. O_o I don't want to spend time with his new toy, I dont know what to do with it!!Anyway I managed to return his belonging back to him as I found him a good answer(for now). Lets hope it is really like that. I called TRUEMOVE, after checking something I was informed that the WIFI server near my house is somehow not working so TRUEMOVE will have to send someone to check it out and they will inform me within 24hrs. You know I can't just walk to him to say that I don't know what to do although I seriously didn't know what to do, why it says "your computer is not connected to the internet" when I see that it detected TRUEWIFI signal but said not connected to the net?!?! however I did call TRUEMOVE and happy with the answer I got from them (for the first time of the year!), I actually thought it was about the machine not the signal tho', thanks Buddha that it's not (hopefully no any other problem than WIFI server offline/down). At least I feel relieved for now... Any suggestion for where I can study about Mac computer is more than welcome. I surely need to know something as long as my cousin will keep this MacBook with him. My cousin said he wants iPhone tho' but luckily he hasn't get one(yet). I don't know anything about it either, I only knew it's a touch screen!! Bravo!! hehe~

http://www.apple.com/business/theater/ lots of video tutorials and tips here.

To change your language, see here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2490#l6

To get to System preferences, click on the little Apple logo in the top left hand corner, then system preferences.

The best time to play around with a Mac is when it is new, and is holding none of your important data. That way, if you do mess up some software, you can just do a fresh install from the DVD or CD that comes with it.

Poor Oiy! OK, I try to help you become a mac expert :)

>This morning before I off to work he asked me how to switch language to Thai... I don't think Mac computer support Thai language? Am I right? Or how to get Thai language installed if I was wrong?

Mac system supports Thai input nicely and displays Thai, even on my system without Thai keyboard input support. To enable Thai input you need to choose (apple) menu - system preferences - International. Check Thai keyboard input and you will see "flag" menu in status bar top-right of the screen. You may also set hotkey in International to switch between english and Thai.

About menu, commands and system messages in Thai - I don't know, better to ask shop, where cousin buy this MacBook.

If you need some expert help (which maybe not available at regular shop). I recommend Mac Center Thailand, they are very nice people and have a lot of books about Mac in Thai, and they definitely help your cousin.

Web address is: http://www.maccenter.co.th/

I was be in all their shops in Fortune IT, Siam Discovery (call them service centers), even in HQ, and strongly recommend them. They also sells Thai Support Plugin for Adobe Programs. if your cousin will wish to become a Graphic Artist, this software will be needed to do a correct Thai input in Adobe programs.

Yes, funky_house right, to change language you need to follow instruction provided at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2490#l6

I don't use this for ages and forget. Just one note, not all languages displayed in list, you may need to press (Edit List) button and select Thai manually. Beware, using Thai language as primary in system will affect date and time format (Buddhist calendar will be in use!). Maybe you will need to do some fine-tuning in International - Formats tab.

Good luck!
