It's very easy - too easy - to be so fixated on accuracy as to become pedantic. Without some demand for accuracy our communications would break down, but overdoing it is just as bad

funny thing about the original post is that the message is actually *more* clear by virtue of its lack of accuracy. however, by being legible it also makes another point--accuracy matters only insofar as the intended message is communicated.

This is one of those things where the actual message isn't that compelling but if I were an advertising guy the typo would be a huge win because it would become viral. If they had printed some sort of ad on that instead of lotto numbers they could have received so much exposure.

But it seems that in this case it was as simple mistake rather than a genius viral marketing idea :-)
