Ron Fanelli, the guy who killed Wanphen Pianchai (see here for our TF charity event for her family), has apparently requested a psychiatric examination.  According to Phuket Wan Fanelli's lawyers have asked on his behalf for an examination in order for him to better understand why he killed Wanphen.   

Another strange twist in this very sad story.  

Perhaps he is trying to go for the old "on the grounds on diminished responsibility" ploy, in order to get a lighter sentence.

Whether that would work in Thailand though, is another matter.

There was also a report that he was claiming self-defense. Maybe the reality of the rest of his life in a Thai prison is starting to hit him.

That's nuts.
