flwline2.gifI'm planning to buy a new car. I fancy the Austin mini cooper but the hub doesn't agree. He said it's too damn small. Then he makes the decision, my new car is gonna be the new Golf 6, 7 speed DSG. How sweet.

Then we discuss about colour, I wanted something flashy like purple but they don’t sell it here in DK, if I really want it I have to buy one from Germany and I have to go through all paperwork and pay taxes. Let’s forget the purple. So, I say. I wanted to sit on the real leather seat. He says “Go sit on the sofas in the living room, we have got 2 of them”. Let’s forget the leather seats, So, I say.

“But…but... I still like the Austin mini cooper”  “If you want it, it’s all your responsibility. Don’t come and ask me anything about the car. Don’t forget to learn how to change the front lights just in case  they went caput” “Let’s forget the Austin mini cooper  then,” that’s my final answer.

Sometime it’s hard to be mia farang.  ;(

I like both of them, but I have to agree with your hubby on this one.

Of course you could always do an evening class on motor maintenance, just so that you could have your Mini. :-)

Welcome to the "new car club" Nicky, I got a new driving machine 3 months ago. Like you, I went for something German too, a Mercedes E320. And mine does have leather seats!

Husband or boss?? lol.. Doesn't sound like you get much say in anything....I always thought a marriage was about being equals and compromise... but maybe i'm just old fashioned. Anyway.. I have a Mini Cooper.. Love that car. Flying through the mountains of Santa Cruz and Saratoga here in California is a blast!! Plus I get 34 mpg ( I don't have the cooper S =(........ ) so it's easy on the wallet. The new electric mini should be out by the end of the year... you wont get the power and zip.. but you can go 150 miles on charge! Which means it's basically gas free!! My mini is 3 years old.. and the new 2009's are very nice.. thinking of trading mine in... I say go with the Mini! Plus when I bought mine it came with a 3 year total warranty including all maintenance... so you do not have learn how to change the front lights... or anything else... the warranty now is even better..and it's still a BMW.. so the quality is top notch.. 3 years and not one problem...

last new car i had was my Audi TT coupe. god i loved that car.

f*ck him and then go get the Mini Cooper. he is never around anyway. its only money. and nobody fixes their own NEW cars anymore. they have maintenance charts. You wont do anything but put petrol in it for 3 or 4 years before anything comes up. maybe you want to change to snow tires in winter - go buy the tires and they change them for you. and change them back in spring. its idiot proof.

i would not hesitate to get the Mini Cooper. take him to a test drive too. I am 189 cm tall and fit comfortably. My buddy is 2.02 meters and he fits comfortably in his gf mini. so dont believe him when he says they are small on inside. they are very well engineered cars.

Recently, Volkswagen announced the availability of its 4Motion all-wheel-drive system for the Golf TDI. The drivetrain is exclusive to TDI models utilizing the manual-transmission variant of the 2.0L oil-burner.

VW rates consumption at 42.85 mpg (5.5 liters per 100 kilometers), which is about 8.5 mpg off of the front-wheel drive variant?s 51.4 mpg. Though top speed of the AWD TDI hits a ceiling at 128 mph, the diesel engine produces its peak 236 lb-ft of torque at 1,750 rpm. The package is priced at ?26,500 ($36,180.45).

Nicky, this car will get you home on dark snowy night when the roads are icy :)
