April Fool's Day

I assume that most of you know about April Fool's Day. Basically, it's a day when you can play practical jokes on your family and friends in good fun.I always get a good friend of mine, David, without fail. We have been friends since freshman year of college, and I always do something to him on April Fool's Day...and I get him every time.Last April I called him up and told him that one of our businneses was deemed illegal in the US via a new law that had just gone into effect, and that one of our competitors was arrested at New York's JFK airport when he tried to re-enter the states. I let the joke go for a half hour or so, and then told him that it was all an April Fool's joke. He hated me for a couple of days after that. The year before, I told him that the police were extorting us for a hundred thousand baht because we never paid taxes on the signs we had outside our bar. He was on Phuket at the time, and I got him to the point where he was getting ready to leave his hotel to head to his bank's branch office to transfer his half. I told him it was all an April Fool's joke. He hated me for a couple days after that.Him and I just signed a contract with a large company here in Thailand (this is a fun new thing that will be linked in with TF this month), and we are incredibly busy setting everything in our new office up, preparing new staff, and dealing with all the endless government documents that are required. David calls me this morning notifying me that one of our offices has been robbed overnight...the office that I left last night and locked up myself. No signs of forced entry, and computers, monitors, printers, and stock are gone. They left only the desks and water cooler. I assured him that I locked the door and even double checked it before I left. He says he is almost finished filling a police report out, and will call me back.I tell my wife about this. She left the office with me last night as well. David calls about 20 minutes later and says, "Haha, got you back, motherf*cker!" I'm currently very sour (with a smile), and think this goes against the April Fool's rule of prank war. Regardless, the stakes have risen, and I will most certaintly get him back even worse next April Fool's Day (somehow he forgets everytime). What do you guys think? Does this go against the rules of engagement?Anyway, I will hate David for the next couple of days. Thanks for listening to me complain! Here are some classic pranks from an ongoing prank war at college humor.http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1774718http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1902812 (Sorry, they won't let me embed these vids)

Definitely against the rules of April Fool. This one is just a practical joke, but you know what they say, "All's fair in love and war." Sounds like this is war. :-)

I remember as a kid having a calendar for which you had to tear of a page for every day. On the first of april I teared off "31 March" and to my surprise it showed "32 March". I checked the next page and it was "1 April"

Seems to me the point of April fool's day is that it's in April. If it was in July, it would be called July Fool's Day, but I think a better name would be "Duly Fails Day"

first rule of prank war - there are no rules

I got my pal Scott a good one a few years back - he was in a (rather mediocre) band but had delusions of grandeur beyond their abilities. Another friend (who Scott didn't know) was up from his home in London to do some business. I printed off some false business cards stating that Graham was A&R for a major record label, and also mocked up a supposed contract from the same company. At Scott's band's gig that weekend, Graham attended by himself and stood watching the band and pretending to enjoy the show. Afterwards, he approached Scott, gave him his business card and enthused over how good they were before dropping the bombshell that not only did he want them signed that night on a preliminary contract, but that he could offer them a support slot for the UK leg of the forthcoming AC/DC tour. Needless to say Scott neraly came in his pants and was immediately on the phone telling me 'I told you we were good' and inviting me to the club to celebrate as they had just bought a load of champagne. I jumped down but waited till we were on the 3rd bottle to drop the bomb that Graham did in fact work for a digital advertising firm rather than a record label.

He still hasn't seen the funny side...
