Personally,if I was to buy now, I would buy around Sukhumvit, becoz it is cheaper now than pre-recession.

Once the economy recovers, the price will go up.

Easy profit, I think.

Must own a Condo for over 4 years or you'll/he'll get stung on resale TAX.

I'd rent, somewhere on the BTS.... for a while rather than buy, or at least until you know where you like and don't like.

Saying that I might have a cheap one for sale ; )

i don't think i could buy in such a politically unstable country... It must be money your prepared to throw away. That said, instability tends to boil here frequently but never seems to spill over.............. yet.

i wouldn't buy unless i either planned to live in bangers forever or didn't mind losing money.

bangkok is getting overbuilt again and they learned nothing from last time the market tanked.

best bet is to rent a condo. best of both worlds, your'e not stuck with a crap mortgage and you pay the power company's electric rate instead of 6 baht per unit or so...

i have been thinking about that for some time....

i think its better to rent first, then its easier to move to another area if you want,

it gives a better feeling of freedom.

i would prefer somewhere near the skytrain

As you said Thailand in your question I would have to say Chang Mai and probably rent rather than buy as the laws in Thailand regarding ownership of land and property as a foreigner is quite a grey area for me!

What is the average rent for a 2 bedroom condo near the BTS?

What in your (TF) opinion is the best areas in which to rent?

Chit Lom, Silom, the areas out by the river...

I'd love to live on the river (I think). Grew up in a river city.

Plan on enrolling in one of those Thai immersion study programs. I've got time and resources to live in Thailand pretty easy for quite a while if I so desire. I doubt I'll stay that long, but, two years is not out of the question.

I gotta learn how to talk to Unny's Momma. lol

it's best if you have budget in mind then search for those apartment that suit your budget, otherwise, it's too wide choice to choose, unless you have too much money to spend on posh box.... condo, i mean.

Rent is a better option. If you buy a condo you still have to pay maintenance fee... that's on top of your mortgage. If you were planning to stay here for life than buying is a more suitable option. Live around town for a while and feel it out, see how you like it. I switch places every 3 months, want to see more of BKK... so far I prefer Chiang Mai :D

I think you're more of a ............. Soi Aree kinda guy Dave.

If you want a nice place to LIVE in and not just a box to sleep in you won't get much for under 20,000++ a month.

You would get this for 20,000 .... nice area, on the BTS and river.

Always offer the 20% lower than the asking price these mother fuckers are desperate to rent them out.
