Propoganda

North Korea always fascinates me. I look at it as a large scale social experiment, though it's real and has devestating consequences.

The children are taught to love their "supreme leader" who is like God to them. Any negative talk about him would land the person in jail, or even worse...though most N. Koreans would never say or think anything bad about him as they have been brainwashed from day one to believe that he has done many wonderful things for their country.

It's amazing what propoganda can do to an entire country. Here is an hour long documentary on N. Korea that I found amazing:

wow, i wish i had one hour to spare to watch it. i saw some documentary last week. people were in a hall. they were injured or had some physical problem. suddenly they were cured, don't know how. they then started yelling out "praise to the great kim whatever his name is". absolutely amazing. an old lady was shouting out "i promise i will bring my children up to fight and kill americans blah blah blah" totally gob smacked i was, watching it.

35mins in where they show Pyongyang at night and Seoul at night to demonstrate the difference in Economy was shocking.

People cooking tree bark and clay just to have something in their stomachs? WTF?

40mins A political women who failed to co-operate was raped and the muurdered by having a spade stuck in her vagina? WTF?

But with no-one visiting, and virtually no trade between North Korea and...well, anyone, how do they sustain themselves? It just seems a case of whatever money is in the country just gets circulated around. So many questions, so little time.

Feel sorry for the kids that are getting brainwashed and even those who question will stay quiet cos of fear.

And Thaksin's former spokesman, Jakrapob Penkair, referred to him as the Dear Leader when speaking at the Foreign Correspondents Club one evening.

That became Thaksin's nickname among journalists for quite some time.
