Little Feet 5

It's been an interesting period since my last Little Feet entry. I've begun to fall in love with almost every little kid/baby that I pass by. I used to have this love for kids throughout high school and university, and then it kind of faded away once I got into "the real world." Now it's back. Last week I went to a burgers and bowling event, and a Chinese and American couple brought their two sons along aged 6 and 4. They were gorgeous, intelligent, and well behaved. The father understandably hates the affordable education system here, so he has been home schooling them. Though they have lived in Phuket and Bangkok for their entire lives, they speak only Mandarin and English. If you ask me, however, that's not a bad combination considering where we expect the world to be in 20 years.Anyway, these kids were great. They were witty yet polite...fun to play with yet well-behaved. If you can imagine this, you'll see a bit of what I mean: One American guy asked the 6 year old, "So if you're 6 and he's 4, how come he's so much more handsome than you?" The 6 year old replied sarcastically, "Hahaha...*serious face* Not funny...awww...did I hurt your feelings?"The more I play with kids nowadays, the less I worry about "being a good father." It's as natural as breathing. This doesn't mean I'm not worried about making mistakes. Mistakes will be inevitable and I'll learn as I go. Regardless, each day Jeab and I are getting more and more excited about our new arrival in July. She can feel him/ her moving and changing positions, but I can't as of yet. Last night I had a really strange dream. I was with Jeab, US family, and some old friends. The baby was being delivered. This time it was a girl, but wait...It was a female turtle! Despite this weird occurrence, I was just thinking, "Wow, it's a girl, cool." I let it nip at my finger. It liked Jeab and didn't seem to like me that much.A bit later on, somehow the turtle had transformed into a chocolate labrador (still a girl), and started to like me a bit more. Again, this wasn't weird to me. I was just thinking that it would easier to take care of than a real human being...Yes, I had a very strange dream. It was fun laughing about it in the shower before heading out to work.

The secrest to having success with your children is the TEAM WORK between Mother and Father.

If you and Jeab can work together in all matters in raising your child then everything will work out.

Good luck to you and Jeab :)

The first thing you have to do when "it" comes out of the womb: send "it" to school to learn Mandarin, so you will be safe when you are old and grey :P

Cool journal.... finding a balance in being a good parent is a challenge. As long as you have time to be with them and teaching them the right value from you not the nanny, I'm sure they will grow up fine.

Seeing my cousins, they are all fine when they are at home. Once they start school, they come home with all sorts of weird faces, bad words and screaming. Maybe home schooling is the right thing nowadays.

The problem I see with home schooling is that they don't get the same level of social interaction and stimulation. But as you say, that may not be a bad thing nowadays. Then you can go the route of some people and just start your own mini school!

I definitely couldn't do that.
