Last night JapAmerican, Mrs. JapAmerican, my gf, and I went to have dinner and go see Iron Man II out near the Bang Sue area.  Afterwards we dropped off the pregnant Mrs. JapAmerican at home and the rest of us went to a Thai nightclub called Lizm.  

Typical Thai place, Thai band, no dance area, etc.  All in all, a pretty cool little place jumping with hip, young Thais.  

We decided to sit outside in the smoking area because they had given us a table literally right in front of the main stage and the music was deafening.  When I say literally, I mean our table was touching the stage and we were standing right over two speakers.  

So we're sitting there chatting away and this Thai guy who is obviously wasted out of his skull leans into our table as he passes and says "What the f*ck are you doing here?" mostly to me.  

I just smile and he sits down at the table next to us and from time to time he tries to talk with me but I pretend I don't hear him.  

Rob leans in to me and says "Is this guy trying to talk to us so he can start a fight?"  

I said "Yeah."

My gf, always ready to give her fellow Thai the benefit of the doubt says "Maybe he just knows a little bit of English and is trying to talk with you guys."  

Nah, he's definitely trying to start something.  

He finishes his cigarette and after giving us a look as he passes our table he stumbles back into the bar.   

About 45 min or an hour later he comes back outside again even more drunk than before.  Again he stops at our table before taking the same seat at the table next to us.  

This time he's much louder when trying to get my attention and he's stretching to peer around my gf so as to make it obvious he's talking to me.  At some point, ignoring someone can in itself be provoking so I say "What?" with a friendly smile.

He says, "You going to take her to a hotel?"

All three of us knew exactly what he was implying but I pretended to be stupid so not to take his bait.  

"No, I live here.  I don't stay in a hotel."

He starts saying something and I cut him off, "Yeah, I have an apartment."  

He says, "Are you going to take her to your apartment?"  

I say "Yeah, eventually when we leave.  But not right now."

He was quiet for a moment having used up his best line so I used that as an excuse to start ignoring him again.  He tried talking to me a few more times but he was much less obvious about it than before which told me that he was stretching for something to say.

When he was done with his cigarette he stumbled and almost fell into two girls who had been standing with their backs to us.  Like any good drunk with ADD he forgot about us and started talking to the girls.  

One girl got out of there pretty quickly and came and sat where he had been sitting.  You could tell by the look on her face that she wasn't entirely comfortable and it seemed she was anxious for her friend to join her.  

But the other girl kept talking to the guy.  And talking.  And talking.  Pretty soon the two of them went back inside the club.  The girl sitting next to us jumped up to follow behind them.  

Rob says to me "All it takes is one as*hole to ruin your entire perception of a place.  I was just thinking this is a cool little place I would like to come back to but now . . ."

But all was not lost.  Later in the evening two Asian guys walk up to us and ask if they can get a cigarette.  I oblige and we start talking.  They ask where we're from and Rob says Boston and I say LA.  The one guy says "Oh, Red Sox and Dodgers."  

WTF??!?

Turns out that one guy is Thai and the other is Korean.  The Korean guy is a huge baseball fan.  Both have spent a considerable amount of time in the US.  In fact, the Thai's English is so perfect Rob asks him if he speaks Thai :-)  He says "Yeah, it's my first language."  

Anyway, we get around to what we do and tell them about Thailand Friends.  They love the idea of the live events and stuff and so I give them my card.  Maybe we'll see them at the next TF event.  

So . . . final score:

lol...twas an interesting night...and I'm glad we were able to ignore the D*ck head.

Watching the two asian dudes hitting on that girl towards the end of the night was priceless.

Well there are assholes all over.

Usually when somebody is deaddrunk you´re better of talking to someone else than him.

This is a story from up north in Sweden deeply into the vodka belt.

A friend/collegue of mine was working and had a layover and it was a saturday night.

He arrived at the hotel around 10pm and as he wasent tired he went down to the bar for a beer.

A lot of people at the place and most of them more or les drunk,my friend walks up to the bar and order a beer.

There´s a guy beside him at the bar and he is beyond wasted.

This guy leans over the bar saying something to the bartender (same language but impossible to understand for my friend)

as he is leaning over a candle on the bar lits his shirt on fire.

My friend tells him "hey your shirt is on fire" the guy just stare at him still unaware he is on fire.

So in order to save the guy from being seriously burned my friend takes a cloth from the bar and put out the fire.

The drunk gets mad and is about to hit my friend when the bartender tell him that he should thank my friend insted.

The big guy start talking,again impossible to understand but he probably said thanks and he

gives my friend a bearhug that would cause damage to anybody not physically fit.

I think we talked about this place, Bill. I have been there several times and I love it there...love the atmosphere. Never had a problem. Everyone has always been really friendly and kind. I hope this was just a one-off...cuz I plan to go back there again soon.

Chris, it was us talking about it. When Rob suggested it I was like "Hey, somebody just mentioned this place to me recently," but I couldn't remember who. :-)

And yeah, seems like a one-off. Everybody else there seemed pretty cool.

maybe i never had a problem cuz i always went with a group of female thai friends from JAL and i was always the only farang in the group???
