Actually, if that lion was looking to do real damage the guy would be dead. The lion seemed to be making some sort of territorial claim. Maybe the lion thought the guy was looking at his wife a little too long or something :-)

It looked like playing to me too.

A serious attack is much stronger and faster.

There's an online video of some Pakistani kids teasing a 'pet' lion. It turns on one of them and shakes him like a rag doll.

He gets thrown around and chewed up, while a bunch of people try hitting it with sticks... It barely even notices them and continues attacking the kid.

Either way, there's always an element of som nam nar when a captive animal turns on its prisoners.

I was rooting for the lion.

Neither one of them would have come out of there alive if that lion was seriously attacking the one guy. He would have gone for the throat, and batted the other guy away with enough force that it probably would have killed him, yet the main handler was able to get between them with the lion not hitting him out of the way, or making a serious attack like EB pointed out.

When Sigfreed, of Sigfreed & and Roy, was almost killed a few years ago in Vegas by one of their tigers, it was just trying to protect him when it went for his throat to get him away from what it thought was a threat to him. It was picking him up like it would a cub, but almost tore his throat out doing it.

^_^a it's so dangerous to play with, a lion is a lion ,No way that it can be a kitten someday even if it's in a town.

I wonder what attracts people to these jobs......Wake up one day and think hmmmm i quite fancy taming lions or training KILLER whales.

I was in Vegas watchhing these guys at MGM in late July--they are nuts
