Soda & Mr Kiwi's Millenium Thank You Tf Party
I have to say that I must have really wanted to attend this event because I went through hell to be there.
First off, when I asked someone which BTS to get off at for Sukhumvit Soi 50 they told me to get off at Thong Lor. I know. But I really don't spend much time past Phrom Phong so I just took it at face value and got off the BTS at Thong Lor.
So, there I am walking down the street and the first major soi I get to is 40!!!! F*CK!!!
Okay, so I think to myself that maybe there's short blocks and it won't be that far. Nope. I walked and walked and walked and then I came to Soi 42. I mean, the total distance was probably the same as walking from Soi 19 to Soi 3.
So when I finally get to Ekkamai I figure I'm done with this walking crap and I cross the road to the other side where I can get a taxi heading the correct direction. He takes me to Soi 50 and we start down a very dark soi. I SMS Rob and ask if it's on Soi 50 or near Soi 50. He responded that it was on Sukhumvit near Soi 50.
Okay, so turn around. I tell the driver to drop me off near Sukhumvit and I start walking the last quarter of a block up Soi 50 towards Sukhumvit.
So there I am, hot, sweaty, tired, thirsty, and feeling like all I want to do is get somewhere air conditioned so I can cool off when I hear a growl. I look up and there's a soi dog parked dead center on the sidewalk growling at me.
I get off the sidewalk and start walking in the street and the mangy little mutt starts following me and he's got buddies with him. I yell "Hey!!!! Hey!!!" at the dogs and they back off a little bit seeing as how it looks like I might put up a bit of a fight.
But they aren't done. Every time I turn they start back at me. And the faster I'm walking the more aggressive they are getting. I know that running will only trigger their attack instinct so I stand my ground and stamp my feet on the ground.
Then a security guard comes out and yells something at the dogs and they turn tail and follow him back in his little booth.
WTF?!?
But, I'm glad I made it. It was a joy seeing everyone and I wanted to wish Soda and Mr. Kiwi a proper congratulations.
I guess if there was one bright spot in this whole ordeal (prior to getting to the event), it was that as I was walking down Sukhumvit I hear some techno music throbbing away and I look over at this building and it's a car dealership but on the top floor they've got about six coyote dancers grinding away.
How random is that?
I could only take this horrible photo but you can see the girls in the window.
