shortyg 1 Posted December 19, 2010 Report Share Vertigo actually isn't the fear heights. (I also thought it was till it was on a TV quiz the other night) Vertigo (from the Latin vertō "a whirling or spinning movement"[1]) is a type of dizziness, where there is a feeling of motion when one is stationary.[2] The symptoms are due to a dysfunction of the vestibular system in the inner ear.[2] It is often associated with nausea and vomiting as well as difficulties standing or walking. The word Vertigo has been commonly but incorrectly associated with the fear of heights since Hitchcock's film the real term for fear of heights is Acrophobia. Link to comment
