It's my second time for the radio show today, still exciting, I can't help it.

My friend who bring me and coach me... cuz i might take his place soon. He said.. the important rule for the radio job, no dead air na... especially talk show like us. Means I can't speechless... I can't keep silence, I must keep talking all the time.

Awww... I did it on my first day.. It's live talk show so... when someone ask something your brain must work damn quicky, and an audience asked me about PhotoShop, which I know but I didn't prepare so it take time to think. Plus I was new and super excited, it made me lost my information. grrrrrrrr that wasn't good.

Today, yes I felt super excited...but i just let it be, tried not to control myself. (It's what I have learnt from voice training class) I think I did a lot better than last time. I talked about Mobile phone which suit 4 styles of people, I used my sense of humor (in IT. style). And I spent every second for searching information, while my friend was talking i read, and then said "ahh" "right" "I got it" and then give some comments. So no dead air anymore... I'm so proud of myself.. haha

When I worked in radio in college, one thing we learned in a talk show setting is if you get caught with nothing to say because your brain isn't working fast enough is to ask the caller a question. That gives a few moments that it is acceptable to have short dead air, and it gives you a few moments to reload your brain. In those moments when the caller is trying to think, you have regained your thoughts, and can start answering what you asked, and then what they asked. It's a nice little trick that can save you sometimes.

Radio is fun. Once you get over the nerviousness, you will have loads of fun. It is work researching, but you know that, and handle that part. Joking, and having fun, will increase your listening audience, then your station gets more advertising, and you are again successful Neung.

Thks kha KB. for the tips. I will try next time. I had lots of fun kha. My friend said just be myself, it was the best, it was the reason why he want me to be there. I told him sense of humor it might be in my blood at least somewhere, my grand father was a comedian, haha...

When doing radio, it's a good idea to keep an image in your head...maybe even a movie of what you're talking about. Your listeners will see the same thing.

Don't get too comfortable with it. It's important to remember that you have to prepare for each show at least 1 minute for every minute that you plan to be talking (in the beginning).

Post some clips when you can, I'm interested in listening.
