Very little if anything will happen to anyone involved. The best we can do is to try to inform tourists before they come to stay away from such scams as:

The Jetski assholes

The Royal Palace is closed cunts

The taxi dogs at Suvarnabhumi (and other tourist areas)

The thing is that many of these guys haven't figured out the power of the internet yet. 10 or 20 years ago you could get away with scamming the tourists all day long because one man (or woman) could only warn so many people. Now they can set up websites and post videos once safely outside of Thailand. Instead of 5 or 10 friends they warn about Thailand tens or hundreds of thousands of people see what's going on.

I know many people feel that this characterization is unfair, and it is because not all Thai people are like this, but what if when you got off the plane at Heathrow or LAX they asked if you were Thai and if you said "yes" they punched you in the face? Not everyone is like that but no matter how many nice people you meet after that it's going to leave a negative impression.

There's also a but of 'buyer beware' here. Surely everyone knows of the scam now?

Therefore, if you really MUST hire a jetski, get it completely out of the water, photograph or video its entire body.

Mind you, I have this nice idea of hiring a speedboat, mooring 1000 metres offshore. Then a bunch of friends rent as many jetskis as they can, make a floating island and set fire to the whole lot of them. And we all speed off in the boat laughing.

That would be hilarious if farangs started giving fake ID's to the jet ski operators and just walking away when they tried their scams. One illegal business would be causing the fail of another illegal business. I can just picture in my mind the jet ski mafia guys protesting against the fake ID madia guys over who had a more legitimate right. LOL

from what i've heard these guys don't allow to just walk away. apparently a couple of guys have got roughed up and some guys were threatened with a knife !!!

for me the worst aspect is that the police/tourist police know all about this ******* scam but advise the guys getting ripped off to pay up !!!!

Just arrange to have about 30 or 40 of your mates ready when you get done with the jetski. Turn the tables on them and you do the intimidation.

obviously that's easier said than done .... but i can see someone getting seriously hurt over this issue and unfortunately it's more likely to be some poor tourist guy getting scammed who's on the receiving end of a beating !!
