I didn't think places like this existed.

Coming from London, where you double lock the doors, and close all windows when you go out, I gave the girl who welcomed me, a funny look, as if to say, "Yeah right", when she told me,"You don't need to lock your door here. But if it makes you feel better, you can put your passport and credit card in the safe".

So, the door to my bungalow has remained wide open since I got here. Even when I have gone diving all day. The key is hanging on the wall outside. I have slept with the doors wide open every night. No air con, no mosquitoes.

I had better not make a habit of this. :-)

That's how it is where I live now. No one locks their doors, which I can't really get used to. Maybe at some point I'll relax a bit, but I still lock everything even with a big guard dog inside.

I'm the same, in this apartment we have to do our laundry with all the rest and at first I was thinking I would have to sit with it to make sure no-one nicks it. I was assured that no-one would. To this day I am still amazed that after leaving it a while, it's still there.

Guess I was raised in thieving bastard of a neighbourhood (not Glasgow though) lol
