yesterday Google announced to open an online library by making a deal with a couple world biggest libraries

___The search engine Google has signed deals with five of the world's biggest libraries to begin making their massive collections available on the Internet. They include the libraries of England's Oxford University, and in the United States, Harvard, Stanford and Michigan Universities, and the public library of New York.___

i listened to this news with happiness...., this is going to be so cool. now we'll have to wait for those books to be scanned and add to Google database.

they are curious about the effects that it might cause, as for me...i think this is the way the world is moving towards. actual book will be kept as references, all we need is a laptop and the wireless internet conncetion, as a virtual book. less parking space, transporting is not necessary, fossil feul preservation. 24/7 accessibility to knowledge.

i hardly wait for this project to be done!

wahoooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

I think it will be great as well, but the still really haven't designed anything that makes reading e books as nice as reading a real book. If they can develop that then it would be great!

Yes, I too saw this announcement as good news. What is the difference between being able to "check out" or download a book on line, and downloading music mp3 files online? Well, for one, friggen hollyweird will sue your ass if ya "share" mp3's online. So much for the original Napster...

Hollyweird, aka the big corporations, have locked up the rights for movies and books into the next century. So will you be able to get any of the books on the current best sellers list from google anytime soon? I doubt it... Even so, it's a step in the right direction. Go google!

ah!.....good point Lyle...

if you have someone read those books for you. that's when you, as a reader, get manipulated by more than one authors. thr writer and the voice reader.

not to mention that more information will get idstorted in many ways or lost because of this reading matter.
