it's a sad time with the disappearance of WinMX. does anyone know any similar free music download software (free from adware etc....)

any word on the street what happened to WinMX? i'm guessing it got busted much like Napster did several years ago. It's a real shame, it was the perfect software. RIP.

I have use many p2p programs, but lately i have use only DC++.

WinMX, went down a couple years ago for a few months. It came back and I am hoping it does so again.

I guess I just have to get used to using another program.....I loved the WinMX format.

I stopped downloading from the p2p sites because I hating getting those songs with that scary screech sound. I probably shouldn't promote it but I get everything from www.mp3search.ru. It has most everything you want. I just wish the music industry would realize that more people would by from a verified real source than whatever russian mob site this is. I was skeptical at first but I've been using it for the past year and everything has been fine. At .10 per song it's much better than wasting my time trying to find it for free. I do feel a bit bad about money not going to the artist. But I just make sure I go see them in concert if I really like them.

yeah, i use www.mp3search.ru sometimes too if i don't find it anywhere else. Another site i can recommend is www.mp3000.net.

You can still get winmx! Although the main site is down.. they've got an alternative :-)

thanks for the response, excellent news about winmx. unable to try everyones suggestions but Limewire seems very good. i had no idea there were so much software out there.
