Ezzzer
So what do you guys think about English Premiership Clubs trying to sign up Chinese players from China? Are they doing it really because they are good or do you guys think they are doing it for commercial reasons? I think it's a mixture but more towards the latter. I think Sun Jihai is the only decent Chinese player in the Premiership. What do you guys think?
s1lv3rtwenty2
its not much different that Yao Ming playing for the Houston Rockets. It may be to sell tickets at first, but they've got to be able to play in order to stick around. Not being familar with the way English soccer...oops, I mean football...teams operate, what does it mean when one player is "on loan" from another team? Why would a competitor (Chelsea) loan a good player (Forssell) to another team (Birmingham)? Freddy Adu is the real deal, but he still needs time...he's just a kid. Remember when Tiger Woods just graduated college? But also remember, he's been judged by US soccer standards thus far...Europe and South America is whole other deal. S123arpedon
Winston Bogarde being a perfect example...been at Chelsea since Vialli signed him and sits in the reserves collecting his 40k a week salary! There are some good Chinese players...Spurs wanted to sign a chinese striker/winger called Quo 'kevin' Bo but work permit problems. He is touted as the Chinese Michael Owen and when he was on trial at Spurs he did play well...quick little winger! We also had Toda on trial with us but i think that was more to sell shirts...he hardly played! Lie Tie plays for Everton and they have a chinese sponsor too... Ezzzer
In addition, the player being loaned may not be playing well at all at the original club and loaning him out to another club and if he plays well, the original club can eventually sell him at a better price if they decide to do so. However, leaving him on the bench definitely will not do any good to his value! No offense, but Lie Tie is crap in my opinion. S123arpedon
I dont think Lie Tie is crap. He is a good squad player. Nothing special I agree but ok. He gets into the Everton team but that isnt saying much!! haha! For overseas players too...being loaned out to other clubs gives them a chance to settle into the pace of the premiership...by far it is the fastest more phyiscal league around. Ezzzer
Ok, may be I am a bit too harsh on Lie Tie, but he still seems to be lack of pace and could not really settle into the pace of the Premiership. Well, Everton is not exactly doing great at the moment, are they? I think Premiership is the best league in the world (though I may be bias). The Italian League is boring but the goals are good to watch. For the Spanish League, all the players want to do are diving, if you know what I mean. As for the German League, what can I say? Probably nothing!
S123arpedon
"As for the German League, what can I say? Probably nothing!" Haha...lol! The german league is pretty boring. I dont mind La Liga sometimes...its faster than Seria A. I used to watch a lot of Italian stuff. I still remember Goerog Weah's goal when he was playing for AC Milan...he ran from way inside his own half and beat about 6 players and ripped the back of the net!! Amazing stuff!! Man U I heard were going to sign a chinese payer werent they? Anyone else hear this? and there was a Thai player having trials at Crystal palace but i think he was sent back! Ezzzer
Actually, Man United has already signed the 18-year-old Chinese striker Dong Fangzhuo back in JAN04 from Dalian Shide but he was immediately loaned out to Royal Antwerp which is currently bottom of the table until 2007. S123arpedon
Thats the guy...Dong. I wonder how he will get on in the Premiership..if he gets chance that is!
Ezzzer
Well, I think it will be very unlikely that he will get the chance in the near future as he has no working visa and the transfer fee will go up depending on appearances. I think due to the performance of Man United this season, they will definitely be on a cost saving mode right now and probably the next season. In addition, Dong is only on the bench at Roya; Antwerp and has made a few appearances, so the future is not really bright at the moment.
