A farang who takes his shoes off in a flight to BKK and his feet stink!! BIG TIME!!! That's gonna bother EVERYONE; not just one sub-group. So let's start again: 1. Being caught in a lie. 2. Criticism (constructive or otherwise). 3. Being shown an easier or more efficient way to do something, esp. when that "something" has been done a particular way for a long time. 4. Losing face. English_Bob
The Thais are pretty quiet on this one.... Actually I'd really like to know what pisses them off... One thing that bothers me - and possibly Thai too - is farang guys walking around Bangkok with their shirts off. 1) To show off their new tattoo 2) To show off their awesome bodies 3) To show off their awesome beer guts At a coastal town - on Beach Road it's ok... but in shopping malls and high streets it looks bad. English_Bob
yah i asked them b4 if they do the same thing back home, they said yes. U cant question stupidity. But I know they will say 'yes'... In some countries it's acceptable. But in Thailand it isn't. I have a simple strategy - if Thais don't do it, then I shouldn't do it either. I only see very poor, manual workers half-dressed... I don't want to be considered the same 'class' as them, so I shouldn't act like them. Topless women on the beach irritate me too. Before going to a foreign country, it's common sense to read a guide book or two - and they all say it's illegal to sunbathe topless in Thailand - so why do it? And people who get busted doing stupid things (taking drugs, stealing bar mats) and then call in the media and the embassies to play the victim. lol - you wanted to experience Thailand's rich heritage? Spend a couple of years in a Thai prison - experience some of the exotic and interesting activities available to you at no extra charge.
SoBeIt
Since we have "Thai things that bother others" thread, why not "Things that bother Thais."? Farangs who went to Thailand a couple of times, and though that they know everything about Thailand better than Thai ppl who live there all their whole lives.. Really irritating..

Can you pls expand on this SB, what do you mean exactly? Farang looking down on you? Not respecting Thai culture? Acting like elites? no and no and no. Not something farangs directly do to bother but in many scenarios that westerners are treated much better than the average Thais, as we become less importance. It's the whole 'farang has money' attitude. I also feel a lot of things are catered for foreigner customers rather than Thais, psychologically and economically. Most farang teachers get paid more than Thai teachers at the same level of knowledge. Taxi drivers only take farang costumers. etc etc. I'm sure many thai people have encountered these situation one way or another.
