I have come to the conclusion that no woman is worth sacrificing my freedom for.

Replace the word "sacrificing" with "augmenting" and then that might make a difference, yes?

I like the ability to do what I want, go where I want, see what I want, spend my money the way I want, and have absolute control over my life without anybody interfering.

Me too. But I don't see losing that flexibility completely if I get married.

I am a Buddhist. The Buddha said people suffer and then they die. I am not selfish in the sense that I want to bring another life, an innocent child, into this crazy world and then make them suffer and die.

You have your preferences just like anybody else.

And what is the point of getting married, except to have a family.

For some, maybe a sense of security, respect for cultural and social conventions.

I think life would be more interesting to have many exciting relationships with many people all over the world than settle down with the same person and be bored to death after a few years, and then grow to resent my wife for no reason other than being bored. That isn't fair to her or me.

What would not be fair is to narrow your choices permanently because people can change at any moment; the ego too can get in the way.

I believe in taking responsibility for my actions in advance and nip any potential problems in the bud.

That's admirable. How about creating some buds?

In your daily life, how many long-term couples do you see and know who are truly happy? I have traveled all over Thailand. Wherever I go, especially in the touristy areas, you see these old European farang couples who just sit there and say nothing to one another. It is depressing as hell. And with Thai-Farang couples, what the heck do they say to one another, especially with the language barrier?

For sure really happy marriages are rare. But that doesn't mean your future marriage has to be what you described.

People can have sex only so much before the excitement wears off and then you fill the hours with uncomfortable silences.[/group]

Yes, if there is no other foundation for the relationship.

What the heck is love anyway? Romantic love is a recent phenomenon, especially in Thailand. Up until 50 years ago, most marriages in Thailand were arranged for power and financial arrangements, and in many cases still are.

I have my beliefs about Love; it's a neat area to explore. I do know that Love is NOT marraige.

The weird thing is that I don't consider myself bitter and cynical, but just realistic and responsible.

Thanks for laying it out for us.

In a way, I am an optimist, because I advocate living life in a way the makes you most happy.

I am impressed about your comments Filurna, bkkbird, House, WestofSun, JCBoston always zeusbheld and extra ++ to johnno, Music and BKKSurvivor! Sorry not to refer to your names.

Really good insights about your open life stories. Thanks!

Many talking her about the ultimate commitment that sounds to be getting married here and for me its true too. To get married is of course also a symbolic handling but as said also a legal act to secure the commitment future in many ways. For me getting married is the biggest decision you can take except having kids. I will not share my life story here I would take to much space here but I have been in this situation too and really understand what its all about. Love and marriage is beautiful but I will not sorry if I don?t find or will be married in my life! I believe in destiny lol

One thing that I would like to add is that I believe that t i m i n g in life is very important.

Timing can destroy or create a life time commitment if it?s the right timing for both parts. And both part are dependent on the other parts wish to commmit at that time. You may want different things in life depending of what you have done before from your experiences and what you are dreamomg about for the future life.

So you have to be a couple that want the same things in your life cycle and that?s why I believe it also could be some problems sometimes between couples with to much age difference and past experience. But I believe in marrige the problem is to find the right one isnt it? lol

I used to think that I would get married someday with the right one.

But HELL NO...NOT ANYMORE... :x

I don't even wanna live with gf anymore.

I love my single life...i want it back soooooo baddddd....

I promise myself not to get a gf and or live with her again EVER...in my life.

Its not about changing the sex partner every night...(maybe a lil bit ;P)

But its about life...freedom...

For me...having a gf is like having a 2nd mom.

I'd prefer a one night stand or just a hangout.

i am.

i found that a little time of spacing out gives a couple chances to miss each other.

and the feeling of missing someone usually brings up good thought about the other person.

living together seems to cease passion and romance, unless the couple really work on it.

marriage is one thing, moving in together is another thing...

i'm not moving in with anyone, it's scary!

I like to "give" my partner freedom in combination with a mutual 100% respect for each other. If she doesnt behave or understand what that mean then you destroy what once have been a 100% love/passion.

It happend to me but I am sure this is a good building block for two person that are intelligent enough and also want that freedom feeling that you can do whatever you want, even that you are togheter with somone. Married or just a couple its the same for me. I mean almost everything and I have not been married yet

Passion and love is a everyday never ending work from both part if you should be happy in the long run. But we guys are also different. What a woman need/want is not the same as we need or want maybe. So to understand each other is the challange so we can do the right thing to make each other happy. Confundida?

zeus is that an agreement to be a kept boy or a rent boy ?? i don't think rent boys get a dowry but i could be wrong ....... 555555555
