ENGLISH TRANSLATION:

Thailand is founded on the blood and flesh Thai people share,

Every portion of the land belongs to us, thus we must care;

The reason why this country still exists is because the Thai people have long loved one another and been united.

We Thai are peace-loving people but in time of war uncowardly, we'll fight to the bitter end,

None is allowed to oppress and destroy our independence;

To sacrifice every droplet of blood as a national offering, we are always ready,

For the sake of our country's progress and victory,

CHAIYO!

=====================================

ROMANISED TRANSLITERATION:

Chaiyo means "cheers!". When we Westerners hold our glasses high in a toast and say "Cheers!", the Thai word is "chaiyo!".

..::  Mai chai...jaaaaaaaaaaa... chaiyo here is mean Victory !!

Part of the learning process is not always being right. I stand by what I said, but in the context of the national anthem I accept your correction. "Chai"(ªÑÂ) means victory. But the "chaiyo" you mention I can't find in my dictionary.

..:: In my perception ( as a thai ) we use 'chaiyo' for celebrate the victory ! and in some celebration PARTIES.

For holding glass with ready to drink ( generally ) we would say "chon keaw = crash the glass" or "mod keaw = drink it out" or sometime say both.

Pls be noted, We do not hold glass singing national anthem, we usually stand up paying respect. :-)

Wasn't chaiyo the word used for cocaine in Scarface?

Oh no... that was yaiyo, sorry!

Yeah, my understanding of 'Chaiyo' is as victory... as it's said sometimes whilst pushing one's arm into the air in a victorious manner.

I am doing a search on my com for other bizzarre Thai extracts I may have downloaded... will report back should I discover something amusing or of interest.

Well I don't know about the blood, but they certainly are sharing the flesh.

Wonder how all the minorities who live here, some of whom lived here before the Thais, feel about the words.

Yes, most national anthems are a tad xenophobic and racist, but maybe it's time to update some of them to reflect a broader view.

Chaiyo does means victory. Every athlete shouts it when he wins an event or contest.

Sounds like a communist anthem.

If you ever wonder why Thai's (as a society) are xenophobic and racist , no need to look any further than the anthem.

U are right on that one, but I guess most national anthems have those themes, which still doesn't make them right.

British anthem about killing Scottish

German: Deutschland uber alles (German are on top of all) Strange they didn't change anthems after WWII

thank god the US national anthem reflects our history of peace and non-confrontational, diplomatic solutions to conflicts.

"the bombs bursting in air... and the rocket's red glare... gave proof through the night that our flag was still there... "

Australians all let us rejoice

For we are young and free

We've golden soil and wealth for toil

Our home is girt by sea

Our land abounds in nature's gifts

Of beauty rich and rare

In history's page, let every stage

Advance Australia Fair.

In joyful strains then let us sing,

Advance Australia Fair.

Beneath our radiant Southern Cross

We'll toil with hearts and hands

To make this Commonwealth of ours

Renowned of all the lands

For those who've come across the seas

We've boundless plains to share

With courage let us all combine

To Advance Australia Fair.

In joyful strains then let us sing,

Advance Australia Fair.

God Save The Queen"

God save the queen

The fascist regime

They made you a moron

Potential H-bomb

God save the queen

She ain't no human being

There is no future

In England's dreaming

Don't be told what you want

Don't be told what you need

There's no future, no future,

No future for you

God save the queen

We mean it man

We love our queen

God saves

God save the queen

'Cause tourists are money

And our figurehead

Is not what she seems

Oh God save history

God save your mad parade

Oh Lord God have mercy

All crimes are paid

When there's no future

How can there be sin

We're the flowers in the dustbin

We're the poison in your human machine

We're the future, you're future

God save the queen

We mean it man

We love our queen

God saves

God save the queen

We mean it man

And there is no future

In England's dreaming

No future, no future,

No future for you

No future, no future,

No future for me

No future, no future,

No future for you

No future, no future

For you

Never thought much of 'God save the Queen'' as a National anthem...

For real patriotic fervor that gets the natives nervous you can't beat.. ''Land of hope and glory''

Dear Land of Hope, thy hope is crowned.

God make thee mightier yet!

On Sov'reign brows, beloved, renowned,

Once more thy crown is set.

Thine equal laws, by Freedom gained,

Have ruled thee well and long;

By Freedom gained, by Truth maintained,

Thine Empire shall be strong.

Land of Hope and Glory,

Mother of the Free,

How shall we extol thee,

Who are born of thee?

Wider still and wider

Shall thy bounds be set;

God, who made thee mighty,

Make thee mightier yet

God, who made thee mighty,

Make thee mightier yet.

Thy fame is ancient as the days,

As Ocean large and wide

A pride that dares, and heeds not praise,

A stern and silent pride

Not that false joy that dreams content

With what our sires have won;

The blood a hero sire hath spent

Still nerves a hero son.

Real stiring stuff.....Watch out you colonials :D:D
