Guest
I have my son staying with me at present and having been here seven months working and yet to have time to do anything remotely touristy or cultural in this city I wondered if anyone has any suggestions for activities? We are doing the usual stuff, go karting, shopping, see how many beers dad can drink before he falls over......... I wondered if anyone could suggest some must see draw dropping sights or activities? khun_lung
You don't say how old your son is but judging from your own age I guess he is probably still a teen. I would think that Dreamworld would be a fun place and there are lots of tours in and around bkk that would be fun and interesting. Ask Mr. Goggle to give you some options for tours around bkk. Guest
take him to a blow job bar?....or you could do the dreamworld thing...which ever we did that on the first night along with nana and cowboy, on the second night we hooked up with Thai 1 and went to Eden. What and where is Dreamworld? BTW. I knew I could count on you for helpful advice in this matter, google is a good suggestion but WAS hoping that someone here could suggest something that they have done in Bangkok that they really thought was worthwhile, it's a sad day when the only person to do so is frankenburner. He is 14.

He is 14. hmm...only 14...maybe a bit young for those venues...you don't want to "blow" his mind at such a young age.... how about: IMAX or VIP seats at a movie, paintball, RCA go carts are a blast, reclining budha and grand palace of course, floating market, JJ market, fan boats up the river, ...that's all i got for now.... zeusbheld
He is 14. frankenburner? wow, he looks a lot older. "dreamworld" is a big abusement park. kids tend to like it, although i dont know if your son is the sort who might find abusement parks 'uncool'. i dont remember how to get there i tend to block out traumatic memories. anenglishman
My son was 14 when he came to see me here. Not easy to keep a 14 year old amused and interested. But, took him too JJ and he enjoyed. Took him to Sun Luan (sorry about spealling) and he enjoyed. Took him to floating market and on one of the long boats. Did a day trip to Ayuthaya and the summer palace which he loved (but maybe that we because we met all the contestants for miss universe there!!!). Also had a blast on Khaosarn thoufgh I made the mistake of letting him drink one too many beers. I did all this with a Thai friend and he and she got on well which was helpful. I was dragging along my 16 year old and 10 year old daughters too so it was an interesting balancing act. If u have a thai friend who speaks English and knows the city well it makes a big difference. paddy26
the zoo and the tiger park between bkk and pattaya. you get to feed all the animals there and at the sriracha tiger farm you can nurse a baby tiger. its cirny i know but its somthing he will never do at home. then again at 14 he is too young or too old to be interested in wildlife i guess. Some history maybe? take him up to the thai burma railway at kanchanaburi to see the allied war graves. they sell beer on the train
paddy26
would he be interested in going to watch some thai boxing?
Guest
Some good suggestions there! Going to Lumpini next week for the boxing, mainly because I like gambling with the Thai guys, did I say gambling? Gambling as in disscussing the boxing. I think he would also be up for the Tiger zoo and a few of the other suggestions, I am up for the amusement park and the Burma railway is a good one. Thanks for those. Anyone know anything about rugby clubs in bkk? He is a keen player and that would be his idea of a perfect vacation??!! Have asked around and keep hearing it is off season, anyone shed any further light?
anenglishman
Re rugby, contact the British Club. They can give u some info. I do know a few Thais with kids around his age who also speak English. U could also try playing some pool and stuff....place called the Black Horse on Soi Nana is perfecct. Lots of tables and nice staff who are not remotely pushy. And the food is good too. If u go, ask for Khun Aom and tell her Khun Adam told u to speak to her. She is great with teen kids and also very nice and not a bad pool shark.

robbie36
Why not take him catfish fishing at Bung Sam Lan lake in Minburi. You will have an excellent time catching fish between 17kg and 45kg (although the record catch is over 200 kg). No experience required as you can hire a guide, a hut and enjoy beers and food while you are fishing. Go in the afternoons between 2pm and 6pm.
