tallboyno1
To be with a person from a different culture is sometimes hard when language barriers and also knowledge and understanding of our different cultures make things more difficult. How have you experience the culture aspect negatively and positively when beeing togheter? So Q; what is the worst culture thing to accept/understand when being with a thaigirl/farang? Go to the tempel every week end? lol ok you tell me!
siriya
Absolutely agree with Sprite! Nothing is better or wrose....once you have a partner who's not from your home country and doesn't speak your language, you should be very compromising, and be more understaning. Relationship is not a win win game for either men or women.

Relationship is not a win win game for either men or women. Agreed with you Siriya! It really is not that difficult to learn about other different cultures, yet not that easy as well so just takes some times to learn about each other gradually. Instead of keep absorbing and thinking again and over again what is best what is worse, what is acceptable or unacceptable - you should try to understand where he/she comes from and tell them where you are. Compromise and understanding are very important for a couple plus a little more with repect to each other will help your relationship last long and goes smoothly.
biachung
Can't add anymore wise words to what everyone has already said..but just wanna comment on>>Go to the tempel every week end? lol I must say 9 out of 10 times i went to the temple was alot of fun especially when someone to be monk, dancing (me lol), singing (not me , lots of people, lots of food, sometimes we played cards, a few times i didn't make it home and slept there, (blame it on that liquid stuff), the temple reminds me of the marae back in my country, and about going every weekend,i don't know about you, but i only went about once a month, lazy huh, but made the most of it when i did
shaggy
i find it hard to have sex with my girl because at night before we "do the nasty", she prays to the pillow (or wai's it or whatever). i think she's praying for good sex, because that's what seems to happen every time at the same time, it makes me feel kinda strange, like someone is watching us. mabye it's my perverted neighbor through the peephole again.... travis

I once hanged out with a typical American guy... i was like darn.. here is Thailand, not America. Why you treat me like this...lol Btw, don't worry too much. Everything will be fine when you get together with a "right" Thai girl... and some experiences taught me that education and family background or even occupation can't tell you that that girl is right or wrong. Therefore, time and your feeling would tell. Hope you good luck on your relationship... Thats detail that could be interesting to hear - red text. But I mean if you only have that short experience just one date but there must be more guys that have been toghter for several years and must have experience these things? TLOS4me
Well, upon reading your question, it got me to thinking as I've had a Thai gf or two. Then as I read on down thru the posts, bam it hit me. Not meaning to disparage the first three ladies that posted after the question was asked, but here is what I'd say is *one* of the things, albeit not necessarily the *worst* thing to accept about Thai culture. Lack of directness / clarity in response to direct questions. I guess it really kind of goes to the root of the difference in the two cultures, Farang are mostly to the point in their methods and their expectations where as khun Thai are usally less so. Part of it could be the language barrier, however it goes deeper than that... But, as Mayeroff stated, ya gotta learn to accept Thai culture or you'll never have a sucessful go at it with a Thai lady.

Being an American let me offer this disclaimer---- this opinion is share by a very small minority of my countrymen, who you luckily will never have to meet.... they rarely leave the land of MacDonald's, KFC and Long John Silver's ( and when they do they add to our narrow image ) this might cause a loss of body weight ( hummmmmmmmm.....perhaps I should reconsider!) Hazel
I have never had a farang boyfriend. I only can imagine that it may be the level of understanding the farang BF has about the importance of the family unit (which will include Granny, cousins and our favourite aunts) to an Asian woman like me. That said, I know this is purely stereotypying - a form of stereotyping even I myself do not believe in at the best of times (i.e. that farangs will not understand it as well as a BF from my country will). And also stereotyping in the sense that not all Asian women place equal importance as me to some aspects of the extended family.
