Yes, it is a blight on the society and there should be more and better opportunities to get an education. If the economy was not crippled by corruption then there would be more to go around for everyone and the problem could be greatly reduced.

Is Thai economy crippled by corruption? Would need more information on: Does corruption relate to the level of prostitution? Is corruption a reason education gets less money?

Hmmm, how about adding also trying to speak against prostution in schools, in government campaigns at the same time as providing things you mention (education is big big part and proven many times by different programs that have gotten women into schools...bringing employment and economical opportunitites. It is not even long time since Thailand got mandatory 7-9th grades, if I have understood right. And the percentage of high schooling and higher education could be much higher? Maybe the financial side would be needed to be differently organized....)...

The Royal family is keeping tight watch on these kind of "Thai culture" matters, and I guess would support these kind of anti-prostitution and anti-child abuse iniatitives, ref. Queen voicing Her opinion against skimpy glad dancers, read BKK Post, Nation today. Or the Royally endorced programs before.

Changing the culture slowly, and the accepting atmosphere? Education is often mentioned, but seems that the surrounding culture is left alone...I doubt if anyone could proudly say that "prostitution is part of my countries culture, you can't understand."

(I have seen somekind of imho freakish reasoning for prositution and it's cultural acceptance in Thailand, that it is partly feeding from Buddhist virtues of providing for the family. Someone who knows about Buddhism could tell more about the basis of such allegations...To my little understanding prositution is bad thing in Buddhism...But "explanation" that I have seen given once is that providing for family is bigger merit and counterbalances this "lesser sin". But I would like to see more reasonings around this basing on Buddhist values and knowledge, because for me it just feels awkward and what I know about Buddha is that I would seriously doubt if he lived now that he would have accepted this kind of use of his "name and teachings"....)
