From my experience (Black man from New York City here) in the 13 months I've been here, I've heard lots of different opinions.

1. There are a lot of African drug dealers here and most Thais think every Black person is African (until they actually talk to you).

2. Some Thai women don't like dark skin or Black men. Some think the light skin is good and dark skin is bad. I've heard the reasons from Thai women and it sounds like a status thing. At the same time, I know women who don't like Japanese, older men, or European men.

3. Yes, Thai women are scared of big *****. Not saying every Black man has one.

4. Some just don't know any better. When I first got here, women I'm friends with now wouldn't talk to me because they said they were scared. I asked why, and their response was "I don't know."

There's really no "one" reason. From my experience, just about every Thai women that I've actually had a conversation with (bargirl or regular girl) were very nice and had no problems getting to know me. Even the girls with "big-cock phobia" were willing to give it a shot.

Basically, if you get to know a Thai girl and she doesn't want to date you... that means she doesn't like you. If she doesn't even give you the opportunity to even talk because you're black, that's ignorance. There''s my two cents.

I think your 4 points are pretty accurate . . . well, as accurate as I can imagine not being a Thai female :-) But those are the reasons I often hear from girls.

Just my opinion. I think it's all about Hollywood movie, how they present Black man in the movie. Violence, drug dealer and such. Because of the movie (again) it gives an impression for some Thai woman to believe that married an American would make their life better.

There are good and bad people in any nationality.

I like black guy . I have a lot of African family in my apartment . They have a beutiful wife and cute mix kid also...i m very shy to see them every day becoz that is the warm love ...A black guy look like a good family man i follow him when i walk back to my room everyday ...his kid spoke Thai...but i dont know what him said...i can say now.. I want one;)but a black guy like beutiful girl.

For me I think the reason is just the simple thing like liking & taste.

Thai people, in general, like fair skin, wanna have fair skin themselves (me too, haha), and I think a lot of asian girls think so.

Many thai people think that having darker skin means you come from the lower social class; sad but true for a lot of people.

It's a bias.

I don't mean to be racist, don't get me wrong. Don't know if anyone said this before. I just can't read it all.

For me, I don't think it's a pure racism. We don't hit the darker skinned (and thai people who have darker skin), insult the ethnicity like some other countries do. Just some kind of scare because we don't feel familiar with them. And honestly, I think thai girls think that darker skinned guy are not handsome for them, looks too tough for them, LOL. As I said, they prefer fair skinned guy in any nationality to darker skinned because of the taste. This opinion is what I see from people around me. I used to have darker skinned teacher, and I don't think all of my classmate treat her bad or have a bias toward her (if you say it's a pure racism).

Many thai people think that having darker skin means you come from the lower social class; sad but true for a lot of people. << It bases on what I see thai people think about thai who has darker skin, but they still live together, not reject who has different skin from their society. That's my point of view.
