I don't have answers to most of these questions.

but i was a fanboi up until my mid 20's...

i was around when the "Image" line started up and while i don't remember most of the names of the series (other that Spawn) i remember that the art was revolutionary. much more vivid, violent, and colorful than what Marvel and DC were offering at the time.

Was real proud of my first edition of "the Punisher" until my younger brother put crayon all over the cover and then ripped the pages out. (so now i have the number 2 one... somewhere, locked away in America)

I haven't seen a comic book in years... but I am enough of a geek/computer nerd/PS2 Addict, that if given the opportunity.... i would gladly jump back on that wagon ... or chase it down the street to get on

rilly- i'm the same as you- for a long time was an avid comics reader and still have box loads tucked away in various houses in uk. todd mcfarlane's work on spawn and previously spiderman was fantastic and with the launch of image there were new print and colour techniques available which helped put them on the map.

tatt- also was a big fan of 2000ad and later judge dredd megazine- some great characters- launched one of my favourite artists ever- simon bisley!! also the training ground for most of the big-name uk writers later stolen by marvel and dc.

angel- also a big fan of manga- akira my most watched video of alll time and seen at cinema at least 5 times. metropolis has a very distinct look to it and to me reminiscent of the astroboy stuff i've seen.

Was a comic fan as a kid,

Collected loads of them loved all the old Marvel and DC also collected Eagle, 2000AD and many more till I was about 13.

My trick to build my collection was simple but devious at the same time, I would hire my comics to my little sister for a week at the same price as I paid for them lol

Unfortunately I lost the lot when a hurricane in 1987 took the roof off my mums cottage in which they were all stored.

Probably my karma for ripping off my sister.

i was until i was about 17. not so much anymore, but i stuck with underground/indie stuff through college and quite a while after. lost touch with that stuff eventually though.

what's your favourite comic?
don't spend much time or money on comics anymore but sometimes i still enjoy rereading sandman, alan moore stuff, bros hernandez (love and rockets etc) or frank miller stuff. also i like old newspaper comics. really really old ones, like pre-1950s. some manga too, i particularly liked "lone wolf and cub" but can't find it anymore. i liked underground stuff from the 1960s onward esp. the perversions of R. Crumb, and in college made some attempts at underground comics myself (all of which failed of course).

who's your favourite character?
ignatz mouse, from the krazy kat comic strip (1920s)

who's your favourite artist?
winsor mckay, also from early 20th century. (little nemo in slumberland etc). daniel clowes (ghost world, like a velvet glove cast in iron, etc) gets an honorable mention.

Am I a fanboy now? :D

Well, more to the core of things: I adore Asterix, Lucky Luke and Iznogood although the latter is an awesome playing with words (in French - so I don't get at least 50% of the jokes). Got a complete collection of Asterix (up to vol. XXXI or XXXIII) and Lucky Luke as well as a good part of Iznogood somewhere in my messy room besides my appartment where I store all the not-so-often-used things.

I love all comix where René Goscinny was participating - he always had great ideas!

PS: If you are a Garfield addict, just have a look at www.garfield.com - there you find all the strips from the very first day!

I have no remote conception as to what a fanboy might be.

But if you are one Ste mate, then I'd say no, I'm not. I'd presume ladyboys are included in the equation somewhere. Though I am a fan of Manga.

I should eat more fruit.

yeah eat papayo too.

fanboys, btw are them eunuchs on either side of the AHEM queen, fanning 'her.'
