samy5000
For some reason i find it hard to believe that they are just a "security firm"So what are they really? And why not just pay regular US troops more to attract more & better recruits rather than over pay private contract mercenaries like Blackwater ? please

Loburt
seems to me eliminating services provided by the government (the military) and privatizing it (mercenaries/security) is classic conservatism, not neoliberalism. ah, but you can blame anything on anyone as long as you use the word "liberal", right? patrickbseattle
They are generally not regular troops, they tend to be ex-paratroopers, army rangers, navy seals, or other "special operations" forces. I'm sure most of them are fairly professional and I'm sure most of them believe in their job but the pay helps, in Iraq its 600 usd a day to start I believe, no taxes. I personally dont blame the company for the big well known incident, I blame my government. Blackwater cannot do anything but fire them and its the US that has granted all contractors blanket immunity(non-us nationals as well).

valetudo
I think Blackwater do a sterling job with the utmost professionalism. The direct hit rate of Blackwater employees is higher than that of U.S. troops so based on that they do a better job. WAR BLACKWATER

Not true. About 50% make up former military and the other 50% are former police officers with SWAT experience. patrickbseattle said: I'm sure most of them are fairly professional and I'm sure most of them believe in their job but the pay helps, in Iraq its 600 usd a day to start I believe, no taxes. Taxes are taken out of their paychecks since they are paid out of the USA. They are tax exempt up to $85,000.00 USD a year. patrickbseattle said: I personally dont blame the company for the big well known incident, I blame my government. There is limited immunity, such as the UN gives all soldiers, police officers and other international workers in peace keeping missions, such as Kosovo, Bosnia, Haiti, Sierra Leone and East Timor. The limited immunity does not allow people working in these countries to be prosecuted in these countries. It does allow for them to be prosecuted in their own countries. And yes, this has happened. Blackwater is a security and private contracting firm made up special forces mostly US but always british SAS, SRR, and Royal Marine Commandos. They are selected as noted before because they all (because of their skills and training) have at least 6 years military service. To be a Green Beret (army special forces) you must be a sergent (for enlisted or captain for officers) just as an exmaple. They do security for celeb's, politicians in many countries and for many countries. In more major contracts they include rotorary-wing craft for placement and extraction of units. They also train local units of police, SWAT, special forces, regular army, field medical personnel, and logistics as well.

Funny ciaran how with how many men they have there only one incident and it was a car that refused to stop when challened and then "civilians" who rushed the seen of a guns going off? Does that sound rational to you or a setup? I guess logic doesn't matter when it just is something to undermine efforts of democracy.

He's white I belive but can always count on ciaran, beej. zbh, and loburt to be on the total anti-democratic/anti-american .. run for cover and hide contigent.. so you've found your black crayon, and your white crayon. what happened to the other 62 crayolas in your crayon box. don't they give them out in the special education class? are the teachers afraid you'll eat 'em or something? "the total anti-democratic/anti-american... run for cover and hide contingent." are you too ******* stupid to ever actually read anything?? no wait, don't answer that, you've proven time and again you are. for the record: a) i vote. voting is anti-democratic? anti-american? I AM AMERICAN YOU MORON. or are you trying to say if someone criticizes anything their country does, they must be traitors? as opposed, to maybe expecting better from their country? you on the other hand love your country the way you love your mommy's ***. you only know two states of being: the ***'s there, and it isn't. any time someone says anything remotely critical (such as, your mommy might be better off weaning you at age 33 and letting you fend for yourself, it'd be good for you AND her) you spit the dummy and call 'em "anti-mom, anti-***." face it paul, you are too stupid to even figure out that you don't understand anything about my political position. being offended by your bigoted muslim bashing doesn't make me "anti-american and anti-democratic." but that's clearly far enough your head to be in orbit. most toaster ovens would understand it, but these days most of 'em come with microchips so i understand why you can't keep up. america needs more fascist bigots like you paul. sadly, it's still a democracy, so you can't get away with rounding up all the muslims in the US (one percent of the population, according to the CIA world factbook, so that'd be in the 3 million range ) and put them in concentration camps... yet. maybe if you find a few million who agree with your views, you can end this whole crazy experiment in democracy and turn the US into the kind of fascist theme park you dream of. maybe you can even get a spiffy uniform! THEN girls will FINALLY like you!!! YAY!!! they'll be left with no choice, as your kind will make sure anyone who disagrees with you ends up in a concentration camp, and if they don't you'll shoot 'em, right paul? oh right i forgot you were drunk when you talked about shooting that girl for ignoring you. you were drunk! that makes it alright, huh Paul? guess what, you can block me from commenting on your journal, but you can't block me from the forum!i suppose your only alternative is to threaten to shoot *me.* in the unlikely event you grow a pair (highly unlikely as i'd imagine a spine or a brain would be higher priority items, but just in case), i'll gladly tell you where you can find me to shoot me. yep, i'll be the first to take a bullet for your new fascist amerikka. i'm not worried, though, you'll never have the balls to show up, even with a gun. people like you never do. at least without another few hundred dipshits in jackboots backing them up.
