Justin_Bkk
Is 'The Hobbit' coming out sometime soon? Can't wait to se that movie. Was my favorite book as a kid. Peter Jackson did a great job with LOTR. I'm sure this will be of the same standard. Anyone know when it's coming out?
Bushi
The Hobbit (2011) It has been announced by Guillermo del Toro that shooting for this film will not start until 2010. Peter Jackson will not be directing, but wrote the screenplay along with fellow LOTR writer Philippa Boyens. I hope that it's as good as the LOTR's. I'm looking forward to it as well. Kitschiguy
Terminator Salavation is released in july or june as well, can't wait to see it. Christian Bale is playing John Conner. IMO any movie with Christian Bale is worth watching. 1st class actor. Yeah, great actor. I hear he might be playing the role of Solid Snake in a film adaption of Metal Gear Solid. Hope he gets the role - he'd be perfect for it.

Neo
Thank you Neo. The movie usually comes out around Winter... This one have to wait until next summer ! Is Harry Potter considered a Hollywood film or English ? Warner Brothers upset a lot of people by delaying the release from this December. The good news is that there will be an extra movie, because The Deathly Hallows is being made as 2 films. I think any big visual effects film production these days is thought of as Hollywood to some degree. Peter Jackson is supposedly one of the top Hollywood directors and all of his films are completely New Zealand productions. The Harry Potter movies are a bit of both in that the actors are British, the films are shot in Britain, but Warner Brothers owns them and the VFX work is split between California and London. So I guess they are British Hollywood movies ;-)

Much of it is filmed in Scotland and much at Elstree Studios...(and North of England also) I mentioned Coraline in an earlier post; this is the first film shot originally in 3D (rather than added in editing) It is a stop motion animation from Henry Selick who directed Nightmare before Xmas (so you know what to expect) and is written by the marvellous Neil Gaiman. Stramash
That looks very good too. I do like the darker animation of folk like Selick and Tim Burton; am really looking forward to Coraline as it looks as good as Nightmare before Xmas. And yes, the voiceover guy must be very wealthy; he seems to be working constantly!!!
Neo
The first publicly screened film that was shot in 3D was The Power Of Love, 1922. Most 3D films made to date were shot with stereoscopic cameras. Elvis56
I was looking forward to the latest Kevin Smith movie, Zack and Miri Make A Porno. I watched it last week and it was very disappointing. Not sure what happened to Kevin Smith, I love his early films like Clerks, Chasing Amy, Mallrats and Dogma. Jay & Silent Bob stike back was so so and ever since that movie his movies have been going downhill at the speed of light. The tv show Reaper which he produced was nice though, his evening with Kevin Smith performances are a lot of fun but what happened to his movies!?!? On a related note, I started a movie night journal, first part is here http://www.thailandfriends.com/index.php?name=Journal&view=journal&jid=60565&juid=70234
Dr_Mike
There's several sites that let you download ALL the movies, both the ones that are already for rent, and also even the ones that are still playing in the movie theaters. But None of us would ever do that. ;-) It's great if you already have a movie for example, and it's scratched beyond repair, you can down load it and keep it on your hard drive, where it's safer. English_Bob
Urgent Urgent Urgent!!! I went to see Ong Bak 2 at the weekend. My girlfriend and I had been looking forward to this movie so much we even bought the 600 baht luxury seats at Paragon!! That was useful - because we BOTH fell asleep during the movie. I loved Ong Bak. I hated Tom Yam Goong. And now I hate Ong Bak 2. It's boring, overlong, plotless, ridiculous and stupid.... ....all at the same time. I warn you all now.... Don't waste your money. Wait until a pirated DVD comes out next week (but only if you are an insomniac).

When I heard it was coming out I was planning on watching it but after I saw the trailer (along with about 10 others ) before the James Bond movie kicked off I had no doubt... I AIN'T WASTING A SINGLE BAHT on that crap ass movie. No BKK setting, No mum (I mean the comedian guy from tv who was in the first part) No funny young girl cheating her way through life with the charming comedian. I don't see any movies coming out any time soon which I am willing to see, guess I'll just have to wait for either Sin City 2, Batman 3, a remake of once upon a time in mexico (including a sincere I beg your pardon from the people responsible for that tearjerking film and placing Banderas back to a level he reached in DESPERADO) or 300 2 (which obviously will never come out). Wait until a pirated DVD comes out next week (but only if you are an insomniac). I saw it last night as well...it was pretty miserable for all the hype it was receiving. Every fight scene was played in obvious fast forward mode without much editing...making it look like a Bruce Lee flick from ages ago. I love the serious message at the beginning saying that they will do random inspections of people if they dare copy this movie...never saw that warning for non-Thai movies! arrrr...matey. Blast em! I could not agree more. and my take is..... Ong Bak 2 has nothing to do with the Ong Bak 1. the first one was a modern twist. This second one went back to the stone age. There was broken news and press released few weeks before the movie came out, that they had financial problem and Tony Jaa gave up and was about to quit the movie production when it was almost finish being filmed. Then they made up and filmed the rest of the movie. Anyway, the costumes were terrifying, confusingly designed and poorly executed. Japanese/ chinese/ indonesian/ Cambodian/ northern tribes costumes all in one. Bunch of freaks got dressed up in silly costumes that did not make any sense in this movie. It is a big bowl of salad with bad ingredients, immitate scenes from other movies here and there... i could see scenes from King Kong, Drunken master Jackie Chan, could think of a few more. There was one fighting scene that was relatively good. the one with the elephant, you know what im talking about, it last about 5 minutes, thats about all. Any other fighting you want to see, you already seen them in the trailers. I went to ask my money back. no i didn't. I wanted to, though... Stramash
Firday the 13th  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Phn-Ux2XJ4 Well that trailer certainly saved me the time of actually watching another predictably pointless remake in which a predictably stupid bunch of teenagers, some of whom are predictably cute and sexy, get predictably knocked off in a succession of predictably increasingly violent deaths, leading to a predictably predictable cliffhanger where you are left predictably wondering whether the bad guy is dead or whether he will predictably return in a predictable series of further pointless remakes...(ad infinitum) Can you predict what I think of this remake??
